1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ
The loins of your mind.
loins. a. The region of the hips, groin, and lower abdomen. b. The reproductive organs.
The loins of the human body are typically considered the reproductive organs- coming from the loins of so and so. The loins have that power to reproduce, they are the source of reproducing without them mankind would never have lasted as long as it has. From Adam and Eve we've all descended but where our parentage goes from there isn't quite so traceable. Some families can go way, way, way back in tracing their lineage others not quite so far. Regardless of being able to trace our heritage we know that it has been through the loins of various men and women that we've come into existence by the Grace of God.
The loins of our minds- our minds don't reproduce...or do they? Think about it. Our minds bring about our actions. Generally without the thought coming from our minds our bodies do not react. Again, typically, people do not thoughtlessly as if in their sleep without a thought in their head, do anything. The thought comes first. Yes, sometimes we react so quickly to something it's easy to say, 'I did it without thinking.' But in reality the thought came first before the action even if it's only a split second between the two. Our minds literally control things. Our actions come from thoughts. The loins of our minds un-girded would me what?
If you keep something un-girded it's not secure, it's not ready.
Gird
1. a. To encircle with a belt or band. b. To fasten or secure (clothing, for example) with a belt or band. c. To surround. See synonyms at surround.
2. To equip or endow.
3. To prepare (oneself) for action.
Our bodies left un-girded are exposed to the elements. Soldiers left un-girded are more vulnerable to the weapons of warfare. To be un-girded is to be unprepared, unprotected, unsecure, unequipped. So when it is mentioned that we are to gird up the loins of our minds it's really saying what? That our minds left unprotected are vulnerable.

We have to protect our minds, our thoughts we have to be mentally and emotionally prepared for a life following Christ. People say it should all come easy or were not doing it right. They say there should be this happy-happy, joy-joy dancing and singing experience that never ends. They look at professed Christians and hold them to a higher standard than those who are not professed followers of Christ. In truth as followers of Christ we are to place all our hopes in Him and the world to come and not here. When we keep our hopes here on earth we are subject to a lot of heartache and upset.
We are to be mentally prepared- sober.
One definition of sober is- Marked by circumspection and self-restraint.
When our minds are not girded and we give no thought to what we do or so it's not showing self-restraint or circumspection. Having our thoughts protected means to think before we act and show the restraint necessary for one whose mind is stayed upon Christ. You hear that saying- 'What would Jesus do.' And it's truly something we need to have in our mind always.
Our minds need to be guarded, our thoughts filled with Christ and we need to hope to the end for the grace that is given to us by Jesus.
As we go into this new year, let us have the loins of our minds girded, let us be sober, and filled with the hope we can only find in Jesus. We will be hoping the new year brings us good things- better jobs, better health, better grades in school, stronger friendships, better relationships, etc. We hope for a renewal of good things in our lives and yet we know that not much is going to change from this last day of the year to the new one. No magic switch is pulled which will shift our fortunes from one way to the other. The hope is really that throughout the year that our lives do get a bit better in all respects and yet as followers of Christ we know that in this world we have great enemies- all the enemies Christ and His disciples had all down through the ages. The same enemies in different forms war against any who follow Christ. The enemy's goal is to turn us from Christ back to Satan without us even realizing it, or with us realizing it but feeling helpless to stop the turning. This isn't something that will ever change, new year or no new year, that unseen war will go on and on and we all fight in it one way or another. The battle will be fierce the closer the end is and we need to realize this as we have our hope for the new year. Let our hope be for a stronger faith that if our whole worldly existence falls apart somehow- jobs, health, family etc, that our faith remains and grows by the grace and mercy of our Lord and Savior in love, now and forever!

Faith- Does God Measure As We Do?
Step out of the ordinary and fall face first into adversity. Watch yourself succumb to anger, upset, and things you know are harsh and wrong. What do you do? It's almost like watching yourself outside of yourself and you feel as helpless to stop that nasty person from emerging as truly if they were a stranger.
What happened? Was it a test of faith and did you fail that test? What does it mean to fail a test of faith?
Gold tried in fire is literally metal heated until it is melted to a liquid state. It takes tremendous heat to melt metal- we live in a world with metal all around us and we don't live in a world with puddles of melted metal around every corner. An exceptionally high heat is needed to reduce metal to a liquid state. If our faith is tried like gold in fire what does that tell us? The fire is going to get hotter than we can really imagine.
1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ
Faith tested and tried.
Isn't it the test and PASSING the test what matters?
We go through life having to pass various tests. Tests in school, in higher education, in jobs- our skills are tested and based on our ability to score high enough on the tests we either pass or fail. If we fail the result can be loss of moving up a grade in school, it can mean the loss of a job, or the loss of a promotion.
I know a man who tried to pass an exam so he could advance in his job but after many years of trying to pass that test before retiring, he never did. He tried at a cost to himself- each exam taking money out of his own pocket just so he could advance to a higher pay grade and in prestige.
Whether successful or not, each position has its results, its consequences.
When our faith is tried we want to pass the test right? We want success because that success means eternal life with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
But you know what?
We have to ask ourselves a question. Does God measure our success and failure the same way we do? Jesus suffered and died - that was a success. However, many in that day considered His life and especially His death a failure. He should have been able to save Himself, kept Himself from being hurt, from being tortured.
That man who kept trying and failing I told you about- was there a special kind of success in His ability to keep trying to pass the test even though he never did? You hear the old saying all the time that it's not whether you win or lose but how you play the game. That failure is only giving up. Are they true?
Our test of faith- we might fail in our own eyes, but maybe not in God's. He may measure things differently than we do. What I mean is a test may come and just having the recognition of failure, the recognition that it was a test may go a long way to building your faith, having your faith become stronger so that in the end it really isn't an ultimate failure but a temporary setback. Perhaps this faith being like gold tried in fire is never giving up though the trials will come and some of them come without any warning with such a vileness you are all but destroyed. The ultimate test might just be having to cling to Christ and only Christ.
We don't know the end from the beginning, but we do know that Satan would have us so caught up in our seeming failures that we just give up looking to Christ at all.
We can't give up! We must understand that the trying of our faith strengthens it- not necessarily passing the test. One failed test may ultimately keep us from failing in the future. We might have to fail our test over and over again but we can't give up! We can't!
God is the one critiquing our lives and He judges differently. We have to hope and pray that we hold fast, that we don't let our faith fail no matter what test it is put to. Easier said than done, yes, but it is my prayer that God bless and keep us so that we never give up our faith, never.

Two Paths
Doing God's will does tend to separate us from those who choose not to do God's will. It seems inevitable. God's will and man's will clash. There is a separation that exists when one chooses to follow God's will and give up their own- even for a short period of time. The separation is very noticeable, it looms large. It's like that old saying- you can't ignore an elephant in a small room and often people do just that. It's there, it's very loud in its silence and it speaks volumes without uttering a single sound yet it is ignored because the two paths chosen are so different. Being there in that room, living in that existence there's a tendency on both sides to want to draw the other to them and their side. Forces are at work behind the scenes so to speak, forces that war against each other even though the victory has been won. The loser would have all that he can have on his side and until the Victor arrives to claim His people the loser will do all he can to woo them from the Victor's side. On the opposite side of things, the Victor wants all that will to be His as well and has laid down His life for His people no greater sacrifice exists. The Victor will not use nefarious means to seduce people to Himself while the loser stops at absolutely nothing to get people.
People think that being a Christian is some sort of cop out. People think that weak people turn to Christianity and use it as a crutch. Others believe that it's to put on airs for a 'better than thou' attitude. There are countless beliefs out there and those who choose not to follow God, doing His will, come up with the ones that suit them best to silence within themselves the small still voice that nudges them to follow God as well. Some men consider themselves too manly to succumb to God's will. Real men don't need that wussy stuff. Some women consider themselves to independent to need God in their lives. They've fought too hard to get where they are to give any of that glory to God, it was their hard work and that alone. If a person would look at their lives and ask themselves if they are doing God's will they'd be able to answer themselves too. Maybe the answer wouldn't be a positive one, but the answer would be out there for better or worse. The reason would be known.
As time winds down, as the sands in that ol' hourglass slip quickly though, the decision that ALL people will have to make on where they stand with God will have been made. Before Christ returns it will all be decided. If some people are waiting for His return hoping that He'll begin a new ministry on earth so they can turn to Him then they will be very mistaken and all Jesus will need to do is point to His word. The truth is in His word. Those people who are not following God's will, God's truth as it is revealed in His Word will hear the sad words to get away from Christ- He never knew them. KNEW them.
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
KNEW. Past tense. The time to KNOW Jesus is NOW! NOW! It can't be stressed enough. Seeking God, seeking to know His will, His truth is something we do now- not something we should put off for a later date.
It is easy to do God's will? Was it easy for Jesus? More and more it will be difficult to do God's will and those who stress otherwise are wrong. That path is narrow and the way is fraught with manifold temptations.
Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Few there be that find it. That narrow gate is something to be searched for diligently. The most precious treasure in all the world is found beyond that gate- life everlasting in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Few will find that gate compared to the number that will find and walk through that broad gate.
Jesus uses an analogy that we can all relate to-
Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Mat 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Mat 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
Mat 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it
May God help us to hear the sayings of Jesus and to do them so that we may be like a wise man. Doing the will of God, not of ourselves no matter how many around us - those near and dear to us, or those far away yet still influential over our lives- choose not to do the will of God. It's not putting on airs, it's not something done to alienate others, in fact it's something that would draw people together if only the love of God would be first in all our lives.
By the grace and mercy of our Lord and Savior, now and forever may His will be done in us.

The Breach Will Be Healed
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Human's sin. Sinless creations give into temptation and sin. Man's first sin didn't result in the instant disappearance of mankind. Satan would have enjoyed that don't you think? Seriously. The death of the human race. The death of a race of created beings. Beings that didn't exist until God created them and created them in His image. Angels weren't created in God's image, only mankind was created in God's image. Some might argue that angels were created to be more like God than man, angels are spirit and God is spirit, even so, man alone was created in God's image. We were created a little lower than the angels and yet the angels are to minister unto us.
Psa 8:5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Heb 2:5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
Heb 2:6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Heb 2:7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands
Heb 1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Angels are to be ministers to those who shall be heirs of salvation. Surely Satan would much rather mankind just disappeared upon succumbing to sin. Instead mankind didn't just disappeared but they opened themselves up to all of Satan's wile, all His deceptions. If mankind wouldn't just go away then capturing them was the next best thing to keep God from having them.
2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
What was the first thing God did after man sinned? He didn't know where they were did He? We chuckle and say of course He knew, He knows everything. Yet this indication of God asking revealed what?
Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Man had separated himself from God. The unbroken connection between God and man was now broken. Man hid knowing He'd done wrong. God didn't abandon man though. The first thing God did after man sinned was seek him out- 'Where art thou?' Man hadn't poofed into non-existence, there was no instantaneous disappearance in death. Man had created a separation between Himself and His creator- just as Satan had created a separation between Himself and God because of sin. However angels were created spirit beings and not fleshy at all whatsoever. In all our newness, our newly created existence we were created with flesh- we were given a solid form as well as a spirit that was connected to God. Sin disconnected that part of man from God and brought about the corruption of the flesh into something called death, something an angel had never be subject to- death. Man's flesh instantly began its slow descent into corruption- the nakedness revealed was the connection severed from God. Only God didn't want to be separated from mankind. Instantly He sought him out-
'Where art thou?' God asked. He didn't have to do that, He could have remained silent and let sin-filled man fend for Himself. Some say that He did because He only ended up passing sentence upon them and cast them from the garden of Eden, He didn't immediately take them under His wing and absolve them of their guilt. Sin was something much too grievous to do that. Much like our lives and how we deal with criminals -- we've labeled crimes as misdemeanors or felonies, the misdemeanors being minor crimes compared to the more serious felonies. Sin by it's very existence is the cause of all crimes great or small, something with such power could not be ignore. Every single bad thing great or small that we can imagine is the result of sin. Yes, God past judgment upon them but He didn't leave them without hope when He did so.
Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Between God's chosen and Satan there would be a hatred, Satan's head would be wounded even as Satan would wound the heel of the seed of God's chosen.
God, right there in the presence of newly sinning mankind revealed that there was a plan in place for God's chosen to prevail over Satan. The bringer of sin to mankind would be destroyed.
God from the start sought a reconcilation with mankind- not abandoning them, and all through history He's continued to bring the reconcilation to mankind. In times before Christ it was through a sanctuary service that pointed to Christ, and then after Christ (the woman's seed to be bruised) it was through Christ Himself and it's remained that way, and until man is fully reconciled to God again, the separation completely healed and sin is no more it will be Christ who reconciles us to God. One day the breach will be gone, the full reuniting will take place and I pray to God that we, through His Son will find ourselves joined with Him once again, that we'll be among the forgiven, among those surrendered to God fully.

Heb 2:5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
Heb 2:6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Heb 2:7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands
Heb 1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Angels are to be ministers to those who shall be heirs of salvation. Surely Satan would much rather mankind just disappeared upon succumbing to sin. Instead mankind didn't just disappeared but they opened themselves up to all of Satan's wile, all His deceptions. If mankind wouldn't just go away then capturing them was the next best thing to keep God from having them.
2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
What was the first thing God did after man sinned? He didn't know where they were did He? We chuckle and say of course He knew, He knows everything. Yet this indication of God asking revealed what?
Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Man had separated himself from God. The unbroken connection between God and man was now broken. Man hid knowing He'd done wrong. God didn't abandon man though. The first thing God did after man sinned was seek him out- 'Where art thou?' Man hadn't poofed into non-existence, there was no instantaneous disappearance in death. Man had created a separation between Himself and His creator- just as Satan had created a separation between Himself and God because of sin. However angels were created spirit beings and not fleshy at all whatsoever. In all our newness, our newly created existence we were created with flesh- we were given a solid form as well as a spirit that was connected to God. Sin disconnected that part of man from God and brought about the corruption of the flesh into something called death, something an angel had never be subject to- death. Man's flesh instantly began its slow descent into corruption- the nakedness revealed was the connection severed from God. Only God didn't want to be separated from mankind. Instantly He sought him out-
'Where art thou?' God asked. He didn't have to do that, He could have remained silent and let sin-filled man fend for Himself. Some say that He did because He only ended up passing sentence upon them and cast them from the garden of Eden, He didn't immediately take them under His wing and absolve them of their guilt. Sin was something much too grievous to do that. Much like our lives and how we deal with criminals -- we've labeled crimes as misdemeanors or felonies, the misdemeanors being minor crimes compared to the more serious felonies. Sin by it's very existence is the cause of all crimes great or small, something with such power could not be ignore. Every single bad thing great or small that we can imagine is the result of sin. Yes, God past judgment upon them but He didn't leave them without hope when He did so.
Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Between God's chosen and Satan there would be a hatred, Satan's head would be wounded even as Satan would wound the heel of the seed of God's chosen.
God, right there in the presence of newly sinning mankind revealed that there was a plan in place for God's chosen to prevail over Satan. The bringer of sin to mankind would be destroyed.
God from the start sought a reconcilation with mankind- not abandoning them, and all through history He's continued to bring the reconcilation to mankind. In times before Christ it was through a sanctuary service that pointed to Christ, and then after Christ (the woman's seed to be bruised) it was through Christ Himself and it's remained that way, and until man is fully reconciled to God again, the separation completely healed and sin is no more it will be Christ who reconciles us to God. One day the breach will be gone, the full reuniting will take place and I pray to God that we, through His Son will find ourselves joined with Him once again, that we'll be among the forgiven, among those surrendered to God fully.

Born to Life Everlasting
Rev 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Prophecy speaks of the birth of Jesus and today; the day the world traditionally celebrates the day Christ was born (even though it's not *really* His birthday) I'm going to touch on this verse in Revelation.
Sin had been in the world for thousands of years before it was time for Christ to be born. Satan, once a covering angel in heaven, close to God, chose to let pride well in His heart as he developed delusions of being like God Himself-- the created being thinking himself as powerful and deserving as a creator in his own right. Thousands of years this sinning angel not yet cast from heaven was allowed to move back and forth between earth and heaven.
Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
Job 1:7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
Now, it's time for Christ to be born--
Rev 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
Rev 12:2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
Rev 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
Rev 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Rev 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
A woman in prophecy is symbolically depicting God's people. God's people had reached the pinnacle of travailing and it was time for the Savior to be born. At that time Satan didn't want a Savior born into the world he wanted to claim as his own. He drew one third of the angels of heaven to earth as his angels-- it is here at this time they are cast down from heaven-- Satan has marshaled all his forces in an effort to defeat the Savior wanting from birth to destroy him, to destroy God's own. It was by God's will alone that Jesus escaped the murder of infants ordered by the king who wanted to destroy the prophesized Savior. Jesus was born and then He was caught up unto God, slain on Calvary so that we may live. He died in our place, taking upon Himself our sins.
Born to die. Some would say it's the fate of all mankind to be born and die and they wouldn't be far off, most are born only to eventually die. They say the only surety in life is death. Jesus gave up His place in heaven to take on humanity starting His life on earth as an infant, born in human flesh. He gave up the power that would keep Him from dying, He gave up more than we can ever realize and as His life progressed He taught us all that we-- like Him -- need to look to God, the Father, for all things.
We are tempted and taunted on all sides by Satan, just as Christ was make no mistake- from the moment of His birth Christ was the promised Savior and Satan was His sworn enemy. We do need to recognize the miracle of the birth of Christ, the birth of the Savior and we need to remember that He came to save us from something. Jesus was born for a purpose and He fulfilled that purpose. We can't trivialize the reason Christ was born because to do so is at an eternal loss. Until Christ comes again we need to remember His birth, His death, and His defeat of death in rising again from the grave victorious. Christ was born to save us from sin, from Satan a very real power on earth with his forces of angels. We might not see them but we see daily the results of their working.
May God bless and keep us all in Him. We praise God for His love, for the glory of His love in His Son's birth, death, and rising again to life everlasting. Thank you Lord for all You've done and will do. By Your will now and forever.

Created for His Pleasure
Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
When we think of pleasure we don't automatically think of strife, do we? We think the opposite, we think of good things. What sort of things bring you pleasure? Most people do not answer with things that are harmful to themselves or others.
Pleasure -
The state or feeling of being pleased or gratified.
A source of enjoyment or delight.
God created us for His pleasure. Some might automatically start up with how sadistic God must be if that's the case but they don't realize that God never intended for us to sin. Just as we as parents never intend our children to grow up to be criminals, or failures in any way. God didn't intend for us to live with pain, sadness, and all that sin has marred His creation with. We were created for His pleasure. It's clear throughout the Bible that God doesn't find pleasure in sin at all.
1Ch 29:17 I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness.
Psa 5:4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
Eze 18:23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
For God's pleasure we were created and the alternative was not to have been created at all. God is merciful, loving, He is all that is good. And yes, he hates sin and one day sin will be no more. Life will be as it should be, we will be as He created us to be happy in Him, love abounding always.
It's all but impossible for us to imagine such a thing because so much of our lives are wrapped up in sin and getting pleasure from sin. It will be a reality some day and the joy will be unimaginable. Giving up the short lived pleasures we have here and now, for joy everlasting in Jesus, joy not marred by sin at all. It's a dream, it's a happily ever after that will be realized. It's not a fairy tale at all, there is a happy ending.
May God fill our hearts with His love, may we be His now and forever! By the grace and mercy of Christ may we find joy in Him now and forever.

Overcome Doing God's Will
A few days ago we talked about Christ saying- 'I know thy works...' Also in Revelation along those same lines it says- 'He that overcometh...'
When we talk about overcoming we immediately think of action. How many people overcome things by doing nothing? You might argue that by stopping certain actions people do overcome various obstacles, but to stop an action often takes a lot of effort asked any addict who is trying to overcome an addiction, trying to stop something, trying to NOT do something. Overcoming is an action. So why do people often believe and fight to believe that the Christian life is one of inaction and just belief? Live your life any way you choose as long as you believe you're okay. It's not what the Bible says at all.
1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1Jn 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
1Jn 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1Jn 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
1Jn 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
1Jn 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
'He that is begotten of God KEEPETH himself'
'Keep yourselves from idols.'
Do you see the close connection between believing and a reflection of that belief in our lives? Why would the Bible spout faith and believing and in the same breath say- keep yourselves from idols? That's an action. We have to keep our lives in line with God's. We have to follow God's will in all we do. We have to put God before us as we live and hold our lives accountable to God. We accept Him, believe in Him and through faith we do so. It's no good at all to keep from idols if we don't believe in God. People say being good is enough, living a good life, honest and upright, friendly and helpful, but the nicest person in the world will not be saved unless they believe in God and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. God first in all things. Jesus put God's will first in all things. It was God's will not His when He allowed Himself to be crucified.
Luk 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
It was Christ's will to do His Father's will no matter what it meant. That didn't stop Christ from saying to His Father- 'if thou be willing remove this cup from me'.
He knew God's will and was willing to do God's will, but at the same time if He had His choice He would rather not have to endure what was being asked of Him.
This is an example for our lives too. God asks of us to do His will, we don't have to like it. Too many think we should like it, but it's not always something enjoyable we are being asked to do. Give up ourselves and submit to God, this is hard and yet through Christ it is possible.
By the grace and mercy of our Lord may we seek to serve Him to do His will now and forever.

Things of the Spirit
Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Minding things of the Spirit.
Do you mind things of the Spirit? Seriously. Think about it for a few moments. How much minding of the Spirit do you do? Tending to the flesh is rather easy isn't it? Think about it. It's easy to grab up a bite to eat, pop it in our mouths, chew it, swallow it and fulfill the need of hunger our flesh feels. When you're thirsty it's simple to get a glass of water and take care of that thirst, for the most part- in most parts of the world anyway. Do you think it's easier for someone who is finding it hard to find food and drink to tend to their spirit? It's something to think about.
Another thing to think about, do we have spiritual pangs to tell us we're in need of spiritual tending? Have we so warped ourselves that we can't recognize our spiritual need- passing it off as something else entirely.
We have so many mental and emotional illnesses we can scarcely count them. People today take so many pills geared to just help them get through the day it's unbelievable. Yet we refuse to recognize anything as a spiritual illness. The spiritual is a choice people say. We don't have to be spiritual. We can choose to not believe in the spiritual side of things. And people fully believe that in making that choice their spiritual side simply no longer exists. If they don't believe it, then it isn't there, it isn't a part of them. They don't need that bit- if it's even real- discard it like a diseased appendix, or a rotten tooth, toss it aside as the deadened flesh of the remainder of an umbilical cord that was once attached to everyone of us and needed to dry up and fall away. Why such a graphic example? Because how many of us think about that bit of our flesh that was knotted off and allowed to perish away as useless? Sure we might consider our belly button, our navels on occasion perhaps to decorate them with jewelry or tug a piece of fuzz out of but how often do we think about the tiny bit of flesh that had to die off to form it? Our spiritual side exists even if we don't admit to it. Our spiritual side can starve.

Minding things of the spirit. We can't mind things of the spirit unless we recognize the spirit has needs. We know what minding the flesh is- doing anything and everything to satisfy our desires and boy does the flesh have a lot of desires. Some of those desires we want to be satisfied once a day, others a few times a day, some once a week, or once a month it varies according to our individual desires and fleshy appetites and I'm not just talking sex here, there are many 'things of the flesh'. Given the choice of eating to satisfy a flesh hunger, or studying God's word to satisfy a spiritual hunger it's easy to believe the majority would choose to eat to satisfy a flesh hunger in part because they recognize the physical pangs of hunger much more readily than they do their spiritual hunger. As long as Satan has people disbelieving in their Spiritual need it's easy for Him to seduce them to His side without their even knowing.
How many Christmas stories do we see on television this time of year that play up the believing or disbelieving in Santa Claus? How many people secretly wish He REALLY did exist? Many of those shows satisfy that delusion just to play up that part inside of us, but we know the reality is that He doesn't exist. Those shows a lot of times give the impression if you only BELIEVE then it will be real and it's as simple as disbelieving to do away with Santa. Our spiritual lives demand belief in God who is Spirit.
Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
We have to believe.
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
And this is where a lot of people shrug spiritual things off as if they aren't important, as if they don't even exist. They choose not to believe. Anything that demands faith- believing without seeing is easy to simply not believe. It's much easier to believe something doesn't exist when it's unseen than to believe it does exist.
Our spirit that needs feeding goes on to starve and our lives become more and more selfish, more self-centered, more filled with whatever it is that will keep us from recognizing the spiritual side. It's not so far fetched to say that everyone has their own person demons that work in very personalized ways to keep each of us from tending to things spiritual.

Help us Lord to be after the Spirit and not after the flesh. Help us to recognize that the Spirit is the part of us that connects with God- who is a Spirit. Help us to understand that we need to truly mind the things of the Spirit. As we live day to day tending to our flesh, help us to recognize that we need to tend our Spirit, feed our Spirit from Your word, in prayer, in study, in knowing that in all things God should be first and foremost.
By the mercy and grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ may we live in Him now and forever.

And people fully believe that in making that choice their spiritual side simply no longer exists. If they don't believe it, then it isn't there, it isn't a part of them. They don't need that bit- if it's even real- discard it like a diseased appendix, or a rotten tooth, toss it aside as the deadened flesh of the remainder of an umbilical cord that was once attached to everyone of us and needed to dry up and fall away. Why such a graphic example? Because how many of us think about that bit of our flesh that was knotted off and allowed to perish away as useless? Sure we might consider our belly button, our navels on occasion perhaps to decorate them with jewelry or tug a piece of fuzz out of but how often do we think about the tiny bit of flesh that had to die off to form it? Our spiritual side exists even if we don't admit to it. Our spiritual side can starve.
Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Minding things of the spirit. We can't mind things of the spirit unless we recognize the spirit has needs. We know what minding the flesh is- doing anything and everything to satisfy our desires and boy does the flesh have a lot of desires. Some of those desires we want to be satisfied once a day, others a few times a day, some once a week, or once a month it varies according to our individual desires and fleshy appetites and I'm not just talking sex here, there are many 'things of the flesh'. Given the choice of eating to satisfy a flesh hunger, or studying God's word to satisfy a spiritual hunger it's easy to believe the majority would choose to eat to satisfy a flesh hunger in part because they recognize the physical pangs of hunger much more readily than they do their spiritual hunger. As long as Satan has people disbelieving in their Spiritual need it's easy for Him to seduce them to His side without their even knowing.
How many Christmas stories do we see on television this time of year that play up the believing or disbelieving in Santa Claus? How many people secretly wish He REALLY did exist? Many of those shows satisfy that delusion just to play up that part inside of us, but we know the reality is that He doesn't exist. Those shows a lot of times give the impression if you only BELIEVE then it will be real and it's as simple as disbelieving to do away with Santa. Our spiritual lives demand belief in God who is Spirit.
Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
We have to believe.
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
And this is where a lot of people shrug spiritual things off as if they aren't important, as if they don't even exist. They choose not to believe. Anything that demands faith- believing without seeing is easy to simply not believe. It's much easier to believe something doesn't exist when it's unseen than to believe it does exist.
Our spirit that needs feeding goes on to starve and our lives become more and more selfish, more self-centered, more filled with whatever it is that will keep us from recognizing the spiritual side. It's not so far fetched to say that everyone has their own person demons that work in very personalized ways to keep each of us from tending to things spiritual.
Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Help us Lord to be after the Spirit and not after the flesh. Help us to recognize that the Spirit is the part of us that connects with God- who is a Spirit. Help us to understand that we need to truly mind the things of the Spirit. As we live day to day tending to our flesh, help us to recognize that we need to tend our Spirit, feed our Spirit from Your word, in prayer, in study, in knowing that in all things God should be first and foremost.
By the mercy and grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ may we live in Him now and forever.

Slipcover Christianity
We talk about works and a lot of people think they don't matter at all and in truth you don't get salvation by works, it is a gift, but that doesn't mean all works stop.
If you truly love someone you act certain ways towards them. I'm not saying all mushy and doe-eyed that equivalent of a new love not yet broken in. If you love someone fully you respect them and there are things you know they don't like and you don't do them, things you know they like and you do them out of that love. Many people say that loving someone is accepting them the way they are without trying to change them, learning to live with the faults that present themselves. However if someone loves someone and they see that loved one doing things that are harmful to themselves they want them to stop so they don't get hurt. Their love for them aches as they watch them hurt themselves. They might offer their loved one ways to stop harming themselves, out of love. There are degrees of this and if the loved one were involved in something extremely harmful, leaving them after you try to help them is one option. Watching a loved one hurt themselves over and over is hard. All this is on a HUMAN level. God is on a whole other level. God offers us salvation freely out of love and when we accept salvation we are accepting Him and all that entails. We join with Him and desire to live for Him. Our sinning nature will war against this, Satan will pull out all stops to get us to sin in one way or another. Temptations will become more frequent and stronger and when we slip and fall, sinning, we are led to despair that we'll ever be as God would have us be.
In Revelation the first few chapters we are told this over and over.
'I know thy works'
Jesus knows our works. If works are so unimportant why does it matter? Yet over and over Jesus speaks to the seven churches and to each church He tells them 'I know thy works.' He knows our hearts, He know our lives, He know how we work in all that we do and it does matter. We can't just say we love Him and that's all there is. We can't say we follow Him and in reality we follow our own lusts without any compunction. Jesus knows our works and to each church He reaffirms this. He knows their actions, He knows our actions. We can leave our first love, we can worship *others*, we can blasphemy, we can be seduced away by counterfeits, we can lose faith, we can become defiled, we can become immune, numb to truth, not caring to foster a true love of Christ but rather become content in the slipcover Christianity we profess. We can shout to the hilltops, shout in the streets, blog to the world that we believe in God but our actions speak louder than all the professing we do. To say our actions mean nothing is to be deceived. Accepting Christ, accepting forgiveness, showing true repentance and giving our lives to Christ result in our lives reflecting that love. If our lives do NOT reflect that love because we believe our *works* don't matter we are only allowing ourselves to be deceived.
God loves us and sees the dangers we are in. God loves us and knows the harm that will befall us when we let sin reign.
Heb 12:4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
WE HAVE NOT YET RESISTED UNTO BLOOD STRIVING AGAINST SIN!
Instead we've soothed ourselves, stroked our weaknesses and mollify ourselves by saying God understands. Yes, God does understand. He has always been about love and out of love our actions are made. Turning from God has consequences, shunning the love of God, betraying the love of God all matters but we live in a world that wants to just ease our minds not trouble ourselves with anything. People stress God is love, and all the good things, while forgetting God wrote the Ten Commandments that Jesus reaffirmed. Commandments that tell us how to live. When we don't live in harmony with God's commands all the soothing and mollifying in the world is pure deception. Whole churches exist to mollify people. Whole churches are lukewarm and will be spewed out by Christ. People are going to cry out when Christ returns and rejects them that they knew Him! That they did many wonderful things in His name and He's going to say get away, He doesn't know them at all. They'll be deceived into believing they are Christ's and living as Christ would have them live. ALL BUT THE VERY ELECT will be deceived.
Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
We cry out with Paul, wanting God to hear us- Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Jesus Christ has to be everything to us. Our lives have to be filled with striving against sin...we haven't resisted unto blood in our striving have we? Have you? Have I? What true striving against sin do we do? We can't count the number of times we've succumbed to sin, but can we count the number we've strived against it? Resisted unto blood? We tell ourselves we aren't suppose to strive, that we aren't supposed to *WORK* because it will void Salvation being a gift, but that's not true at all.
Someone gives us a gift we don't deserve and we instantly feel as if we have to repay them in kind with a gift for them, but maybe it's completely IMPOSSIBLE for us to repay them. We are left feeling as if we don't deserve the gift but obviously the person giving it feels as though we do in some way warrant it, even if it's just out of their love for us. Part of us instantly wants to be nicer to that person, doesn't it? No, this can't compare to the gift of salvation, but we have to realize that out of love we must strive against sin because sin will separate us from God and to be separated from God is to no longer live in Him- now and forever- and the tragedy of that is unfathomable.
May God help us by the grace and mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Help us Lord to live as you would have us live in You. Knowing You and being known by You. Create in us clean hearts, renew right spirits within us. May we serve Christ, the law of God, knowing we are wretched in and of ourselves, our righteousness as filthy rags. Help us Lord to resist unto blood as we strive against sin.

Surrender All - Live By His Will
Joh 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
Joh 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was

Jesus spoke those words- 'I can of mine own self do nothing.' He'd taken on humanity and left His divinity in the process. He made Him self human which is lower than that angels. He made Himself subject unto death- something an un-glorified divine being cannot do - die. Sounds awful doesn't it? Yet, Jesus was a man and purposely became a man. He was born of the Spirit yet born a human baby in human flesh. He was born a Jew and as the custom was He was circumcised. His divine flesh was cut, it bled. Outwardly He looked no different than any other human baby, human child, human man. He could live among humans and pass for a human because He gave up the divinity and became human to allow Himself to be tempted in all ways- JUST AS WE ARE. He lived connected to the Heavenly Father not through any divine power but through the same power we possess, through the spirit. He prayed to God, He studied the Word of God even though He knew it so well because He was and is the Word. He used the power of the scriptures and admonished us to do the same.
IF Jesus hadn't become human just like you and I, able to be tempted just like you and I in all our weakness, His death would be pointless because all it would reveal to us is that it takes being a God to overcome sin- something we are not. What it takes is being connected to God spiritually, not being a God ourselves. And Jesus was connected to God fully.
He said- I can of mine own self do nothing - and He wasn't just saying that, He meant it. He continued saying - as I hear I judge and my judgment is just because I seek not mine own will but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
More proof that He gave up His divinity to become human- He said- And now O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
Jesus had given up His unique glory- a glory He had before the world was. Why before the world was and not just before He became human? Because before God made the world and made humans He had it all thought out a plan was put in place much like we make contingency plans. Not that the plans have to be put in place, but that they are there just in case they are needed. More often than not contingency plans become obsolete upon a successful endeavor, but they are there to be used in an emergency and the human emergency came about and the contingency plan was enacted, a plan set up before the world was made, before mankind was created. If angels could fall and separate themselves from God through sin it stands to reason that any creature given the power of choice could fall as well. There is no one to save the angels- non-procreating beings, perhaps God knowing that in making man in His image would need to provide a way for them to connect to Him once again if the connection was broken. The angels eventually all made a choice for good or evil and we too make that choice by either believing in Christ or not. Believing that it takes us being connected through Christ to God, that Christ was born and lived, then died to reveal that it was entirely possible for mankind to live sinless and through Him we can live sinless. Through Him we can have our sins washed away. Christ of His own self could do nothing. We of our own selves can do nothing, we must live through the will of the Father by the grace of Jesus Christ.
It's not easy trying to believe fully in Christ. It's easy to superficially say we do, but to LIVE our lives as we believe, that's not easy at all. Surrendering our will to God's- it's more that just words to say, it a way of life.

True Security
Security. What does that word mean to you?
Let's see how the dictionary defines the word-

2. Freedom from doubt, anxiety, or fear; confidence.
3. Something that gives or assures safety, as:. a. A group or department of private guards: Call building security if a visitor acts suspicious. b. Measures adopted by a government to prevent espionage, sabotage, or attack. c. Measures adopted, as by a business or homeowner, to prevent a crime such as burglary or assault: Security was lax at the firm's smaller plant. d. Measures adopted to prevent escape: Security in the prison is very tight.
4. Computer Science. a. The level to which a program or device is safe from unauthorized use. b. Prevention of unauthorized use of a program or device.
5. Something deposited or given as assurance of the fulfillment of an obligation; a pledge.
6. One who undertakes to fulfill the obligation of another; a surety.
7. A document indicating ownership or creditorship; a stock certificate or bond.

Very few people deny they would like security in their lives. Most people believe there is security in accumlating great wealth and keeping that wealth. Wealth means security from poverty and all that entails. Wealth does not offer security from health issues. Wealth is no security against accidents and injury. Wealth can not secure for you life everlasting.
Some think it's enough to have security here and now because the future is unknown fully. Ask a lot of people what they fear the most and they'll tell you something that has to do with losing security in some way.
It's not easy to trust to the point of losing all fear, is it? So many believe God has let them down, that He's let the whole world down, but they look only to the small picture painted with temporal paints. The overall plan for mankind is not one of a mere human life span, but of eternity. If a thousand years is as a single day to God what does that tell us? How many human life times in our time right now would it take to span a thousand years? Let's be generous and give 100 years as the average life span (we haven't quite reached there yet but for the sake of rounding off generously...) that's ten lifetimes, ten! That's you, your mother, your grandmother, your great grandmother, your great great grandmother, all the way up to your great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandmother. Very few people know who their 7 'greats' grandmother was- that was a 1000 years ago! Now think about it... ONE single day. We all know what that is, how short a time one single day is and yet a 1000 years is as a single day to God, ten of our generations is as a single day to God. He lives in eternity and He asks us to trust Him, to believe in Him, to find hope and forgiveness in Jesus Christ, the Son of God slain for us to have that opportunity. He's asking us to live our mere 100 years (if that) and live it in Him with the promise of eternity. How can the God of eternity be considered as one who let His creatures down when He offers us so much. While our suffering here is tremendous, for some more than others, in the long run that suffering will be nothing. No, it doesn't seem that way in the throes of agony- physically, mentally, emotionally- the pain is all consuming the tragedies of life all encompassing; yet all that is temporal.
The problem is we don't tend to look beyond the temporal. You've heard people tell you when you're having a rough time to just tell yourself it'll pass. I've done it more than once. I've even offered that advice. It will pass, and the majority of time it does pass doesn't it. The agony subsides, life goes on and we are left scarred by the tragedies that make up our lives. Scars we can trace to count out our years in existence, scars intermingled with the smooth, clear, unblemish flesh of happy moments, or at the least moments less traumatic. The good or the bad it doesn't matter, time marches on slowing down for no one. Our lives are blips on the screen of eternity, and that's how most people live their lives- believing that once their life ends that's it, that's all she wrote. The thing is, are we going to be blips that remain on the last radar circuit never to leave the radar screen but become a permanant fixture in eternity or will we be blips that vanish as though we've never been because we don't choose to let Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior exist in our lives as a living, breathing, life-saving, life-changing, life-guiding enitity. Make no mistake, we do the choosing but Satan would have us believe that all is decided long before we were born and we have no choices to make, we just have to go with the flow and hope for the best.
We can be rational human beings, some of us (though I'm not included) can even have super high IQ's and still believe in God and the way of salvation, the way to take life from a meaningless 100 painful years and change it to a painless eternity. Knowing that the eternity will be ruled in pure love, an existence of pure love in all ways does away with the warped belief of someone saying that no, they don't want to live forever not in all this strife.
There are so many misconceptions out there but the Bible holds the truth. Some will say that everyone can interpret the Bible differently but the Bible really interprets itself. We need to pray that we come to all truth in Jesus, even if it's not a truth we want to believe. We need to prayer for the truth and the ability to follow the truth when it is presented to us, all through the power of the Holy Spirit who is willing to guide us, to teach us, to offer us comfort and a joy that is unique and special from Him to us. No, we're not going to suddenly be guaranteed painfree lives- in fact our lives might become more painful because Satan will try harder to get us. We are promised life being the pain even if we suffer unto death we know we will wake at Christ's second coming to life eternal in Him. Jesus suffered unto death, suffered tremendous pain, we can expect no less suffering but in suffering we can have real hope.
The Bible tells us this about security- safety, confidence, surety.

Psa 65:5 By terrible things thou wilt answer us in righteousness, Oh God of our salvation, Thou that art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, And of them that are afar off upon the sea:

Our security, real security, the ONLY security we have is found in God, not mankind or anything mankind can offer or possess. Heavenly treasures are the only treasures that mean a single thing. All our earthly treasures exist for only a short while for us- though they mostly live on after us in the hands of others very seldom do others hold our temporal treasures in their hands and cherish them the way we did. Leaving the gift of a life's memory pointing to heavenly treasures is more valuable by far than leaving a multitude of things to someone but in our day and age, in our sin-twisted way we find that hard to believe. May God help us all.

Very few people deny they would like security in their lives. Most people believe there is security in accumlating great wealth and keeping that wealth. Wealth means security from poverty and all that entails. Wealth does not offer security from health issues. Wealth is no security against accidents and injury. Wealth can not secure for you life everlasting.
Some think it's enough to have security here and now because the future is unknown fully. Ask a lot of people what they fear the most and they'll tell you something that has to do with losing security in some way.
It's not easy to trust to the point of losing all fear, is it? So many believe God has let them down, that He's let the whole world down, but they look only to the small picture painted with temporal paints. The overall plan for mankind is not one of a mere human life span, but of eternity. If a thousand years is as a single day to God what does that tell us? How many human life times in our time right now would it take to span a thousand years? Let's be generous and give 100 years as the average life span (we haven't quite reached there yet but for the sake of rounding off generously...) that's ten lifetimes, ten! That's you, your mother, your grandmother, your great grandmother, your great great grandmother, all the way up to your great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandmother. Very few people know who their 7 'greats' grandmother was- that was a 1000 years ago! Now think about it... ONE single day. We all know what that is, how short a time one single day is and yet a 1000 years is as a single day to God, ten of our generations is as a single day to God. He lives in eternity and He asks us to trust Him, to believe in Him, to find hope and forgiveness in Jesus Christ, the Son of God slain for us to have that opportunity. He's asking us to live our mere 100 years (if that) and live it in Him with the promise of eternity. How can the God of eternity be considered as one who let His creatures down when He offers us so much. While our suffering here is tremendous, for some more than others, in the long run that suffering will be nothing. No, it doesn't seem that way in the throes of agony- physically, mentally, emotionally- the pain is all consuming the tragedies of life all encompassing; yet all that is temporal.
The problem is we don't tend to look beyond the temporal. You've heard people tell you when you're having a rough time to just tell yourself it'll pass. I've done it more than once. I've even offered that advice. It will pass, and the majority of time it does pass doesn't it. The agony subsides, life goes on and we are left scarred by the tragedies that make up our lives. Scars we can trace to count out our years in existence, scars intermingled with the smooth, clear, unblemish flesh of happy moments, or at the least moments less traumatic. The good or the bad it doesn't matter, time marches on slowing down for no one. Our lives are blips on the screen of eternity, and that's how most people live their lives- believing that once their life ends that's it, that's all she wrote. The thing is, are we going to be blips that remain on the last radar circuit never to leave the radar screen but become a permanant fixture in eternity or will we be blips that vanish as though we've never been because we don't choose to let Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior exist in our lives as a living, breathing, life-saving, life-changing, life-guiding enitity. Make no mistake, we do the choosing but Satan would have us believe that all is decided long before we were born and we have no choices to make, we just have to go with the flow and hope for the best.
We can be rational human beings, some of us (though I'm not included) can even have super high IQ's and still believe in God and the way of salvation, the way to take life from a meaningless 100 painful years and change it to a painless eternity. Knowing that the eternity will be ruled in pure love, an existence of pure love in all ways does away with the warped belief of someone saying that no, they don't want to live forever not in all this strife.
There are so many misconceptions out there but the Bible holds the truth. Some will say that everyone can interpret the Bible differently but the Bible really interprets itself. We need to pray that we come to all truth in Jesus, even if it's not a truth we want to believe. We need to prayer for the truth and the ability to follow the truth when it is presented to us, all through the power of the Holy Spirit who is willing to guide us, to teach us, to offer us comfort and a joy that is unique and special from Him to us. No, we're not going to suddenly be guaranteed painfree lives- in fact our lives might become more painful because Satan will try harder to get us. We are promised life being the pain even if we suffer unto death we know we will wake at Christ's second coming to life eternal in Him. Jesus suffered unto death, suffered tremendous pain, we can expect no less suffering but in suffering we can have real hope.
The Bible tells us this about security- safety, confidence, surety.

In Need of a Shepherd
Joh 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Joh 10:12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
Joh 10:13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
Joh 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
Joh 10:15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Joh 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
Joh 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
Jesus is the good shepherd. We don't have many shepherds around us do we? Not as a rule any way. It's a good guess some people probably don't even know what a shepherd is.
shepherd (shèp´erd) noun
1. One who herds, guards, and tends sheep.
2. One who cares for and guides a group of people, as a minister or teacher.
Guards and tends to. I don't have a shepherd, a physical one. Could we consider parents shepherds? The tend and guard their children. What about teachers, are they symbolic of shepherds? The tend and guard our children. Caregivers watch over adult people in need of supervision. Prison guards are responsible for their prisoners and in a way they do tend and guard them to a certain extent. Do you have a shepherd? Do you have anyone who tends to you and guards you? There are those that do have body guards but the average person walks about daily unguarded, untended by anyone, they are on their own even if they have family members and such it doesn't necessarily mean the other members of the family are guarding or tending to them. We are raised to be independent. In fact I've often said that if I could raise my kids to be independent, able to take care of themselves then I would consider my parenting a success. We strive for independence, to not need anyone for anything, able to do for ourselves. Get a job, provide a service for someone and get paid for it and use that income to buy any and all necessities we might have to live. When someone can't provide for themselves we believe they've become a burden to someone- family, friends, society. In years past women were provided for and men happily provided for them- considering it a source of pride to be able to support his family. Nowadays women or men it doesn't matter each should be able to provide for themselves - no exceptions. Our world today wants us to rely on ourselves- stressing that the weak and the losers are those who don't. Being guarded, being tended to, having a caregiver, a shepherd isn't something that is promoted at all- we should be able to do everything on our own, needing no one.
It's easy to understand that the sheep a shepherd guards do what they're supposed to do. The sheep who are injured or sick are given extra care, but overall the sheep do what they were created to do. Left on their own they would still do what they were created to do, but a shepherd protects them and makes it easier for them to do what they were created to do. A shepherd keeps the sheep safe something the sheep aren't if they are left all alone.
In a world of stressing self-reliance it's not easy for people to get to a place where they understand their need of a shepherd, they're too busy believing they have to do everything on their own.
Just today I was watching tv and a person on a comedy show said to a group of children he was reading a story to- 'Hope is something people believe in when they can't deal with reality.' Or something to that effect. It's a fact that many people claim that people who believe in God are deluded and can't deal with the reality that this is all life is take it or leave it. For people to believe they have a need of a shepherd somehow detracts from them, it makes them vulnerable and weak, unable to live on their own.
Satan wants us to believe that hope is a delusion, that God is a fantasy, that needing a Savior is silly. He wants us to believe that we are weak and losers if we admit we can't live on our own.
How many people truly rely on Christ for life? How many people truly acknowledge the very breath they take is a gift from God?
Christ said He is the Good Shepherd and a Good Shepherd will lay His life down for His sheep. Christ laid His life down for all of us who will acknowledge that we are His to tend to, to guide, to protect. We have to believe in Him and in believing admit that we can't live our lives on our own. We need a Spiritual caregiver, a Spiritual tender, a Spiritual guard and we need to follow our Spiritual Shepherd every single day. Our Spiritual Shepherd protected our Spiritual lives with by giving up His own life. He protected our right to eternal life by defeating all the spiritual forces that would take that right from us. He laid down His life and took it up again- for us.
May we follow our Good Shepherd knowing that our lives no matter how successful or unsuccessful by worldly standards, belong to Him. By the grace of God we live, by the mercy and sacrifice of our Lord and Savior we can claim a future life, an eternal life in Him. Our Good Shepherd will forever protect our eternal lives, our Spiritual lives if we let Him by following Him, listening to Him, admitting we have need of Him now and forever.

Repentance and Love
Psa 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Which leads us to ask, what is compunction- (sure we might know but it bears getting an official answer right?)

When David wrote 'The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.' he knew that ultimately God didn't desire burnt offerings and such as a sacrifice. The burnt offerings were symbolic and meant to get His people to realize that God is worthy and the only God to worship, as well as realizing without God we have no hope. God alone can forgive our sins, and it's to Him we must go. To go to God with a broken spirit and a contrite heart is to recognize that He alone reigns and we need to place ourselves completely in His hands. We need to realize that only IN Him do we truly live. We only flounder when we are not in God's hands. Does that mean we'll have no problems once we place ourselves in God's hands? NOoooooooooooo, those who believe that are setting themselves up to fall. It means we have a surety, a hope beyond our lives here and now. God is our Creator, and our Redeemer. The redemption will be fully experienced when Christ comes again and not before. It is the HOPE of life with Christ that we put before us, it is the prize at the end of the race we are running. We have to expect that the race will be a treacherous one filled with many, many obstacles. We also have to know that God wants true repentance. God wants us to realize our guilt and to turn from it. God wants us to repent and recognize our need.
Here's what Jesus had to say-
Mar 12:28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
Mar 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Mar 12:32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
Mar 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
More than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifice God would have us love, know love, know Him, to understand our need of Him in all we do. To love God and to love others this is truly what God wills. Maybe people think it silly - the old 60's peace movement, the Beatles song - 'All You Need Is Love', but honestly there was a bit of truth buried beneath the free and easy sex and drugs. Peace and love, we are more used to arguing and proving ourselves right and someone else wrong, standing up for ourselves which we call number one and so on. True love, God's love, the love we are to have for God and others is what it's truly all about.
God is love.
1Jn 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love.
With our broken and contrite spirits, realizing how far we are from being what God would have us to be, let us seek forgiveness and repent. Let us turn from our sins and turn to God, finding in Him all we need in life. May the love of God fill us and by the mercy and grace of our Lord and Savior may we love.

With our broken and contrite spirits, realizing how far we are from being what God would have us to be, let us seek forgiveness and repent. Let us turn from our sins and turn to God, finding in Him all we need in life. May the love of God fill us and by the mercy and grace of our Lord and Savior may we love.

Listen to Jesus Speak
Rev 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

My reward is with me to give every man according to his work (deed, doing, labour, acts, efforts) shall be.
It's easy to consider yourself condemned instantly based upon this isn't it? Rewarded according to our works, our efforts, our acts. We know how far short we fall. Maybe you're counting all your good acts right now, patting yourself on the back for all the good things you do and congratulating yourself for living a life filled with good works. It's possible, people do a lot of good things. If you're not one of those do-gooders you know a few of them don't you? Sometimes you wish if circumstances were different you'd be a do-gooder too, and well, you do the best you can. Isn't that something we console ourselves with? Telling ourselves we do the best we can. But do we? People don't like to believe they have to do anything more than accept Christ and that's it, they've got their first class ticket to eternal life. I'll be the first to stand up and scream we are saved by grace not of works, my Bible tells me so! I'll also stand up and add to that the fact Christ was a living example to us as to how we should lead our lives. He told us how to live and to live any differently is not following Him. If you accept Christ you follow Him. No, we can't become His disciples in the literal sense of following His around here on earth as they did before His crucifixtion, but we can become His disciples in following the principles He left behind for us. He didn't leave us to flounder wondering what now, He told us.
Mat 5:2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
TAUGHT THEM! Taught us, this is a huge lesson for us too. So sit back and imagine yourself living back then and having front row seats to this lesson brought to us by the greatest Professor that ever lived. Maybe you'll start reading this and then stop, thinking it's too long, too much to read, but honestly Jesus taught this -ALL- of this and the people hung on His every word so why don't we make the time to read through it ALL, yes, all 3 chapters. We'll get a good idea of what Jesus wanted us to learn about life and living. Remember, He didn't leave us without instructions and it's true we are only saved by grace, and it is true our works won't save us, but our lives which are comprised of our works reveal our hearts. And don't despair if you think your heart is all wrong, we can pray just like David prayed- Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Joy in Temptation
Jas 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Jas 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Jas 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
How often do you find yourself counting it joy when you fall into temptation? Seriously. I know personally when I'm tempted and often fall to the temptation I'm not counting it joy at all. Perhaps we need to learn to look at temptation itself differently- not the falling to temptation but the bit before the fall. Still misery? It really is, isn't it. Take a dieter for example who is tempted to eat from a table filled with sweets. Walking passed that table is it something that will have the dieter smiling? There they are looking at the food, their mouths watering perhaps and that desire rises up hard and fast to take that chocolate covered eclair, or that chocolate covered cream-filled donut, or perhaps that delicious looking piece of apple pie, maybe it's the cookies that get your sweet tooth aching whatever it is can you imagine the situation? It's not fun, it's not joy, in fact it's a certain sort of agony that comes with being tempted- with the wanting, with the desire. Alcoholics, drug addicts, food addicts (yes, this is real), smokers, gamblers, you name the sin and the need to abstain from it and you'll have temptation to give in to it. Maybe the sin you fight is less tangible and more to do with your temper, or your selfishness, or your lack of compassion, your greed, your road rage, it doesn't matter because any sin will come with a temptation to commit the sin. There is a period of time there whether it's a second or an hour, a full day or who knows a week or more. That *hour* of temptation can be fierce and there is an internal warring going on whether to commit the act or not to commit it. You know what I'm talking about I'm sure of it. Now here we have this verse, this Bible verse, the Holy Word of God, and it says 'count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.' Count it joy when you're experiencing this awful battle? This is part of war you know- that war between good and evil, God and Satan. There we are underfire, being assaulted to commit sin and we are to count it joy. JOY. JOY!
How are we to count it joy, we're suffering aren't we? Most addicts can tell you that there is pain going through withdrawal, and even pain in temptation. We are sin addicts, we are. We're addicted to various sins and there is help in Christ and Christ only to overcome the sins.
That verse goes on to say, 'Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.'
We are to count it joy when we are tempted, why? Because we know that the temptation is a trying of our faith in God and the trying of our faith will work patience in us. Again a lot of people who acknowledge their addictions and strive to overcome them are told that time will make things easier and for a lot of people that's true, for others it isn't. A food addict can't steer themselves away from all food, a greedy person will have to deal with money, and so on and it's not so easy being in the battle day after day, but that's exactly what life is for us all.
Some might choose not to fight in the battle but rather just that's not possible. We're all in the battle, everyone of us. We choose all the time one side or the other and we fight for either God or Satan. No, we're not perfect and we do stumble and fall but we have Christ there ready to pick us up and help us - yes, day after day. If we given into temptation to sin and don't even care about any of it so that it's not temptation to us but our life we are choosing the wrong side in the war, but it's a choice only we can make.
May God Bless us all and help us to recognize that temptation is going to exist for us every single day of our lives and as we experience the agony of temptation may God help us to count it joy as we suffer, holding fast, and by His grace not succumb to the temptation.

Judge Ourselves
1Co 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
1Co 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
Judging ourselves. We don't like to judge ourselves do we? We'd much rather leave that to others and then we like to condemn those who do judge us as those who have no right to judge us, they don't walk in our shoes so to speak. Still and all, we don't like to judge ourselves because we are forced to realize our shortcomings are truly more than we can bear and that leads us to despair and despair continues with the cascading effect of hopelessness and that leads us to more sin because we see the impossibility of ever being worthy. Judging ourselves can have another affect and that is instead of leading us to hopelessness we find our hope in Christ. Understanding that when we are judged and accept the Lord's revelation of our unworthiness we won't be condemn if we realize we need the Lord in all things.
If we neglect to judge ourselves how will we see our need? If we don't see our need then we can't understand how much we need Christ in our lives.
Heb 2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him
Every transgression and disobedience receives a just recompence of reward.
What is the reward for transgression and disobedience?
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death...
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?
Our only hope is through Christ and if we do neglect to understand this need, if we neglect to judge ourselves and recognize and confess our sins, if we don't repent and seek forgiveness in Christ we are truly condemned.
Let's not be afraid to judge ourselves and in judging ourselves find ourselves unworthy and seek Christ because it is only in Christ that we are worthy through His righteousness. If when we judge ourselves we are chastened by the Lord we should be happy.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
May the Lord help us to judge ourselves and to seek forgiveness in Him, to see our unworthiness and count on Him and His righteousness. May we be rebuked and chastened by the Lord, repenting of our sins always.
By the mercy and grace of our Lord and Savior now and forever.

Washed In the Blood Daily
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Rev 4:11 Worthy art thou, our Lord and our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power: for thou didst create all things, and because of thy will they were, and were created.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have the right to come to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.
Rev 7:14 And I say unto him, My lord, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they that come of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Rev 7:9 After these things I saw, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, arrayed in white robes, and palms in their hands
Created the heavens and the earth. Without the earth we would not exist. God created the earth and made it ready for us and then He created us and gave us the earth.
Psa 115:16 The heavens are the heavens of Jehovah; But the earth hath he given to the children of men.
We've been given the earth. We live upon the earth, this is our realm. We act within this realm, live out our lives here using the earth as we need to in order to survive for as long as we possibly can. God allows us to use the earth as we see fit. Men have built up the earth; planting trees and gardens, keeping waterways clean. Men have also destroyed parts of the earth; tearing down forests, ripping up the ground and making it unliveable, polluting and damming up water ways. We have controlled how we use the earth. No, this isn't a big GREEN blog post today, we are talking about the creator and His creations. God is the creator and we are His creations. God is worthy because He created all things of His will. We creatures need to have clean robes and no I don't mean literally, though having clean clothes is always a good thing.
Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags
Our righteousness, the righteousness of God's creations, us human beings is as filthy rags; so dirty they're not just lightly soiled but filthy. There is only one way to clean them and that's with blood. How contradictory, right? If we're talking literally then taking a filthy rag and soaking it in blood only makes it even more filthy, right? But we're not talking literally we're talking spiritual. Our righteousness is a spiritual thing and we can be spiritually filthy and nothing spiritually filthy will enter heaven. The blood of the Lamb is the only thing that can clean our spiritual filthiness and we cannot manufacture that blood. We could try for a lifetime to manufacture the blood of the Lamb but it would be impossible. There will be no synthetic cleansing blood- it doesn't exist and will never exist though many will tell you that you in fact can cleanse your spiritual self all on your own. The only thing we can do is present ourselves to the Lamb and ask for His cleasing. He won't hand us a gallon bucket of His blood and send us on our way. Spiritually He will offer Himself to us and we accept the offering allowing His blood to wash away our spiritual filthiness.
How often do we present ourselves to the Lamb of God?

Joh 6:34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
Joh 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Dan 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime
Luk 1:9 According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
Luk 1:10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.
Exo 30:7 And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it.
Rev 8:4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.
We are to pray for our daily bread- Jesus is the Bread of Life.
As customary Daniel prayed 3 times a day.
At the time of the incense people are praying. Every day the people are praying. The prayers of the saints ascend before God.
Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper.
1Co 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
1Co 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
Jesus the Bread of Life which we are to pray daily for, the Bread of Life- Jesus dying for us, broken for us. The blood of the Lamb we are to remember often. So how often are we to present ourselves to the Lamb of God, to receive the spiritual cleansing only He can give? Daily. Often.
Most people if given the opportunity will wash daily if not bathing their entire body they'll at least wash their hands and face. We wash our physical selves and we need to have our spiritual selves cleansed and our robes will be made white in Jesus' blood. We will have HIS righteousness that will make us ready before God.
By the will of God, by the mercy and forgiveness, the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

1Co 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
1Co 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
Jesus the Bread of Life which we are to pray daily for, the Bread of Life- Jesus dying for us, broken for us. The blood of the Lamb we are to remember often. So how often are we to present ourselves to the Lamb of God, to receive the spiritual cleansing only He can give? Daily. Often.
Most people if given the opportunity will wash daily if not bathing their entire body they'll at least wash their hands and face. We wash our physical selves and we need to have our spiritual selves cleansed and our robes will be made white in Jesus' blood. We will have HIS righteousness that will make us ready before God.
By the will of God, by the mercy and forgiveness, the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
