Believe

"We know that Thou art a Teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that Thou doest, except God be with him." — Joh_3:2.

Joh_6:29  Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Joh_17:20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word

Believe. It's so easy to say we believe, and yet live lives of unbelief.

We didn't witness the miracles of Jesus firsthand. We are among the very ones Jesus prayed to the Father about, we are those believing in Him through the word of those who did witness the miracles.

It is the work of God- that we believe. And before you scoff and say that's easy, please examine your life, is it truly one of belief?

Of course it is, you say instantly. And maybe it is, God knows, not me. I just know that a belief in Jesus means learning/reading everything we can about His life here through THOSE He said we would believe through their words. We cannot believe through their words unless we are listening to their words, living those words.

If I tell you I believe in you, what's that mean to you? It's more than simply believing that you exist in reality, right? I'm telling you that I believe in all you stand for. It's a heavy weight to have someone tell you they believe in you because then you have an expectation to live up to. Jesus perfectly lives up to our belief in Him. We might not always live up to the belief others place in us. We might let them down, time and time again Jesus never will.

You hear a lot of people say, believe in yourself. How often are we told that only to turn around and instantly reply, no way, I've let myself down over and over. We do that. We let ourselves down constantly, Jesus never let Himself down, He lived His entire life through faith in the Heavenly Father. He BELIEVED in the Heavenly Father completely! He did not rely on Himself, and He told us that more than once in His word-- the word given to us by those who walked and talked with Him, by those who bear witness to Him because He called them to be His chosen apostles.

Joh_5:19  Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

Joh_5:30  I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

Joh_8:28  Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

Joh_15:5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

We need to ABIDE in Jesus, and Jesus in us! Without Jesus WE can do nothing, just as He without the Father could do nothing.

A total dependency upon our Savior, because my friends, we cannot depend upon ourselves no matter what anyone tells you. We have to depend wholly upon our Savior, it is He who saves us from our inability to save ourselves. It is Christ we should believe in and no other. Our belief in others must only be a belief that God can work in their lives, if they allow and surrender their hearts to Him. Jesus will give them and all of us, all we need to do the work of God- believe, truly believe.

Mar 9:23  Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Mar 9:24  And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
