Receive not the grace of God in vain...
2 Corinthians
{6:1} We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
**
Is it possible to receive the grace of God in vain?
Dict.
in vain
1. To no avail; without success: Our labor was in vain.
'...beseech you also, that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.'
That you receive not the grace of God to no avail.
Can we receive the grace of God and then have it mean nothing?
2Corinthians
{6:2} For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
{6:3} Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed
{6:4} But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses
{6:5} In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings
{6:6} By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned
{6:7} By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left
{6:8} By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true
{6:9} As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed
{6:10} As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
Wow.
Now is the day of salvation.
Receiving not the grace of God in vain means what?
That God's grace lives in us, works in us, that we are workers with Christ.
Receiving God's grace makes us workers with Christ.
We can't receive God's grace and not be workers for Christ or else we've received the grace of God in vain.
We are to--
Give no offense in anything- so that Christ isn't blamed. Do you imagine that means how people claim to be Christ and go on to be horrific people deceiving others, hurtin the innocent, stealing, lying...when they are found out it does what? It makes people blame the organization they're affiliated with doesn't it? We aren't to give offense in anything, that way the way of God will not be blamed for the offenses taking place.
We are to--
In all we do- realize we are ministers of God.
Ministers of God in - patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings, in fastings.
How?
By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, by the Word of Truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and left.
No matter what, when we are honored or dishonored, giving an evil report of a good report, called deceivers yet being true, not being known and even if we are well known, when we're dying, as we are living, as those chastened and not killed. Even as filled with sorrow, yet rejoicing, even poor, yet others get rich around us, when we have nothing, and yet we possess all things.
Wow.
Talk about a recap of life.
Talk about encompassing it all in a few words.
Talk about the truth.
How are we ministers of God through Christ? Pureness, knowledge, longsuffering, kindness, Holy Ghost, real love, Word of Truth, power of God, armor of righteousness on all sides.
How are we ministers?
By the grace of God.
So that the Grace isn't in vain we have to walk as Christ walked through the power of Christ.
The grace can be in vain, we can't make a mistake there. We can all receive the grace of God it's not withheld from anyone, not a single person. The grace can be received in vain though. The grace can be meaningless if it all stops there. If the grace we receive is in vain it's because we aren't accepting Christ into our lives, letting Him live in us, work in us, through us. We can accept Christ and fancy ourselves saved, but it can all be in vain if Christ isn't allowed to live in our hearts and the result of that is allowing Him to work in us, and us working for Him.
Liars, deceivers, those who have received the grace of God in vain, they all exist, we can't be fooled. We can't believe that all who seemingly come to Christ are Christs.
Jesus said-
Matthew
{7:15} Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
{7:16} Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
{7:17} Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
{7:18} A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
{7:19} Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
{7:20} Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
**
Don't those false prophets in sheep's clothing appear to be the real thing? They do, and that's why they deceive. They can seemingly receive the grace of God but in vain...in vain. So while they're claiming salvation in Christ's name, these wolves in sheep's clothing are claiming it in vain.
We say that works will not save us and I say AMEN to that! Yes it is by our works we are known. By the fruit of our labors, by our actions, by our lives. We are a living testimony to our beliefs.
Does it seem impossible to walk as Christ walked? Well it is if we attempt to do it on our own and claim the glory for doing so to ourselves. If we shout out for others to look at us, look how Godly we are, or even look how Godly we were, we are claiming the glory when all glory goes to God. When our walk with Christ was so new and so fresh, so strong and so pure it was seemingly easy, even the difficulties seemed easy some how in Christ, in that walk. Yet, slowly that walk in Christ becomes OUR walk, and we start counting on ourselves to walk, and the more we looked to ourselves to do good, the less we became able to do so. Somewhere along the line our eyes left Jesus and turned inward. To justify that inward gaze we try to blame God for letting us go, we blame God for hanging us out to dry, when He did no such thing. We looked inwards even while we claimed to be looking to Jesus, our focus became all about us, and not at all about Him. It became all about our needs, our sufferings, our afflictions, our heartaches, our loneliness, our pain and we felt abandoned and no wonder, we took our eyes off Christ and all we could see was ourselves.
It's not impossible to walk as Christ walked. It's not impossible to be true ministers of God by the grace of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. He has to be our everything, and we have to become nothing so we can be all in Him. Christ can live in us, work through us in all things, we have to let Him. And we have to realize that it is possible to receive the grace of God in vain, that there are wolves in sheep's clothing, that there are many who will seem holy that are far from it, and our only hope is through Jesus, the word of Truth.
Amen.

The judgment of God is according to truth...
Romans
{2:1} Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
How is it that we are quick to judge others for their faults but so slow to recognize the faults in ourselves? We can point out easily another’s selfishness, but to call ourselves selfish we find hard to do, citing to ourselves how generous we are in so many ways. It's so easy to see in others but so hard to see in ourselves. If you want to know, really know what your faults are try to find someone who knows you well and who isn't afraid of offending you and sit them down. Ask that person what they perceive your faults to be. Tell them you really desire honestly to know. If they try to tell you that you have none, you know they're afraid of offending you and won't tell you the truth. We all have faults, all of us. Children can often see them in parents but parents refuse to listen to children because, well, they're children. Husbands and wives see them in each other but they don't want to offend each other, what smart spouse would want to point out the faults, they might get their own faults pointed out. Parents will often tell their children what's wrong with them, but lots of times they do so in a way that breaks the spirit of a child. A good friend might, just might be honest about it all, but there again being a friend means overlooking faults doesn't it? Overlooking faults and loving just the same. Maybe you can't find anyone to tell you what your faults are. Maybe you have to figure it all out yourself. A way to possibly do that is to look at those you're judging. Look at others and recognize their faults, it's easy to do, we see them all the time, right? Then turn around and ask yourself honestly ask yourself if that same fault lies within you. Remember- how we judge is how we'll be judged. How we condemn others for their faults- their lack of understanding, their impatience, their un-kindnesses, their inability to comprehend where they're wrong, their cold-heartedness, their stubbornness, oh yes, we can see faults in others. We need to see them in ourselves. We need to know that how we treat others we'll be treated. There won't be any explaining to God. Oh, hey God, I only said that about that person because well, it was obvious and everyone knows they're a nasty. I'm not a nasty, I'm...not, I only...I... The very acts of condemning, condemn us.
Romans
{2:1} Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
{2:2} But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
**
God knows the truth of our hearts. God knows the truth. The truth.
Romans
{2:3} And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
**
No one escapes the judgment of God. No one.
Romans
{2:4} Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
**
The riches of goodness.
The riches of forbearance.
The riches of longsuffering.
We laugh at those who we perceive as good- those who seem easily taken for fools.
We can't comprehend how some people put up with others and their abuses, and still love. (And no I'm not condoning an abused wife or husband to stay with their abusers.) We can't comprehend how people can be longsuffering towards those that revile them. How can someone who is abused still be so nice? Still walk with a smile? Still have a kind word for their abusers. Do you know any of those people? They are few and far between but they do exist.
The goodness of God is found in forbearance, in longsuffering. It is that goodness that leads us to repentance. Leads us to realize our own faults, lets us see our own faults, it takes off the blinders and we can then see ourselves and others in a new light.
And yet, so many despise the goodness, the forbearance, the longsuffering, so many don't want to be brought to repentance.
Romans
{2:5} But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
{2:6} Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
**
In the end it will be our choices that define us. Will we be brought to repentance, to the place we can find Jesus, the grace and mercy of our Savior? Or will we harden our hearts. Either way the judgment of God will come. Each one of us will be judged according to our deeds. Our choices.
Romans
{2:7} To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
**
Those who seek glory in immortality promised through Jesus, those who see honor in eternal life, not the life here. Those who recognize that any glory and honor given by man to us means little in comparison to the honor and glory of God, those will find eternal life.
Romans
{2:8} But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
**
Indignation and wrath, not obeying the truth, obeying unrighteousness- the indignation and wrath are for those.
The truth... Jesus, His love, His sacrifice, His grace and mercy for us.
The lies... That there is no need of Jesus and His sacrifice, salvation is found in ourselves.
Our choices, our deeds, reveal ourselves to God. If we think that our choices and our lives don't matter, think again.
May God help us seek truth. To look at ourselves and our own faults before pointing at and condemning others. May the choice we make be for Jesus now and always.
By the Grace of God.
Amen.

I Trust In God :) Good song :)
***** (Sabbath Morning Bible Study or what turns into it… hehe)
Well I ended the night by listening to a few more songs, it was really nice and then I lay in bed read a bit from a C.S. Lewis Classic- The Great Divorce- a dream. There are a lot of interesting things in the preface to that very fictional story about heaven/hell/earth/death and I emphasize fictional story, hey, even He emphasized it. :)
I'm going to take a few moments to copy a snippet of the preface to share-
'Even on a biological level life is not like a river but like a tree. It does not move towards unity but away from it and the creature grows further apart as they increase in perfection. Good, as it ripens, becomes continually more different not only from evil but from other good.
I do not think that all who choose wrong roads perish; but their rescue consists in being put back on the right road. A sum can be put right: but only by going back till you find the error and working it afresh from that point, never by simply going on. Evil can be undone, but it cannot 'develop' into good. Time does not heal it. The spell must be unwound, bit by bit, 'with backwards mutters of dissevering power'- or else not. It is still 'either-or'. If we insist on keeping Hell (or even earth) we shall not see Heaven: if we accept Heaven we shall not be able to retain even the smallest and most intimate souvenirs of Hell. I believe, to be sure, that any man who reaches Heaven will find that what he abandoned (even in plucking out his right eye) has not been lost: that the kernal of what he was really seeking even in his most depraved wishes will be there, beyond expectation, waiting for him in 'the High Countries'. In that sense it will be true for those who have completed the journey (and for no others) to say that good is everything and Heaven everywhere. But we, at this end of the road, must not try to anticipate that retrospective vision. If we do, we are likely to embrace the false and disastrous converse and fancy that everything is good and everywhere is Heaven.
But what, you ask, of earth? Earth, I think, will not be found by anyone in the end a very distinct place. I think earth, if chosen instead of Heaven, will turn out to have been, all along, only a region in Hell: and earth, if put second to Heaven, to have been from the beginning a part of Heaven itself.'
**
Isn't that profound? Seriously. Yes, they are only C.S. Lewis' meanderings and suppositions, his ideas and fancies but they make an odd kind of sense to me.
Evil can't be made good. Just like the math problem can't be fixed- not ever - unless it's redone and the moment the error in the calculation is found, then it can be redone correctly. But if you don't go back to find the error you can go forward forever and it will never put the math problem right, not ever. There is no magic spell that changes evil into good, it doesn't exist. You can stop doing evil, but that doesn't change the evil that you already did. You can be forgiven of past evil, but it won't change the evilness of that evil. You can even forget about the evil, forget it ever happened but it won't change if you suddenly remember it twenty years later, it's still evil.
I think some people, myself included, wish that by forgiveness there was forgetfulness. That there was a way to go back in time and undo all the evil committed so it would never have to be recalled. The pain of remembering the evil and the results from that evil are tremendous and yes, we can give it all to God and yes, we can find grace through Jesus, our sins will be forgiven, but I don't think we are supposed to forget. As awful as that sounds, I think we are supposed to remember our sins from time to time just like we are supposed to keep the atrocities of evil on a grand, worldly scale, in remebrance. We remember because to forget is risking committing the evil again.
You might say, oh no! I've learned my lesson, never again will I commit that evil, even if you let me forget that I did that evil. I say, if you don't recall the evil you did you can't recall the forgiveness you received and you won't recognize the weight of that sin and you are therefore liable to commit the sin again because the evil of it isn't personal to you any longer.
I could be wrong. I don't know to be quite honest. I could be wrong but as we live with the weight of our forgiven sins on our shoulders we have less chance of adding more weight to them, right? I'm not saying dwell under the grief and anguish of your past sins, no not at all. Rejoice in the forgiveness Jesus gives, rejoice in His great mercy, in God's amazing love for us. What I'm saying is don't be surprised if you're walking along in your life all forgiven from the past and that past you know is forgiven comes back to your mind as if it gained about thirty pounds. Don't be surprised, recognize that there is a reason for your recall and the added pain of the memory and thank God through Jesus Christ our Savior for that forgiveness all over again and for the memory that keeps you aware of the sins and the price paid for them. No wallowing in the guilt, no using it like an excuse...oh, I can't forget it so I might as well keep on with it. No, don't do that! Realize that not forgetting doesn't mean you're not forgiven. One day when we meet Jesus in the air and He takes us to Heaven, one day when we receive our robes of His righteousness and we enter a sinless existence, one day we'll be allowed to forget completely and it's the hope of that glory we live for in Jesus.
**
No, I don't think all that I babbled on was what C.S. Lewis meant by his preface bit I copied, but hey, I needed to say it I guess. Back to the preface- I particularly liked this- 'But what, you ask, of earth? Earth, I think, will not be found by anyone in the end a very distinct place. I think earth, if chosen instead of Heaven, will turn out to have been, all along, only a region in Hell: and earth, if put second to Heaven, to have been from the beginning a part of Heaven itself.'
If we live for our lives here and now believing this life, this earth is all there is, I think we will realize that this earth we live in is just a playground of Satan's, a home he's made for himself here as prince of this world. A home we are born into, grow up in, and yes, die in having never seen Heaven. Our hope is in a world not run by Satan. Our hope lies in the world of Heaven, whatever it may be knowing it's a place free of all sin and the ravages of sin.
It's sad to imagine people believing this is as good as it ever gets, this life, this world. There is no hope or so many who believe that way. It's a life of endless despair and we wonder why so many people are caught up in drugs and sensual pleasures grasping at all they can to make what they believe to be their only hope, their only life a better place. It's like they're trying to put frosting on a pile of dog poo and call it dinner. Gross, yes, but seriously. People living for this earth and this life alone try and try and try to make it something good and constantly problems will arise. If you're poor the problems seem to endlessly be about not having enough money to live as you please. If you're rich it's constantly about not having enough riches, of the riches being superficial because money doesn't buy a place beyond Satan's playground, it only buys a richer tasting frosting so the dog poo goes down a bit easier. Seriously, nothing can turn the evil of this world into good. Remember the math sum? You have to find out WHERE the problem occured and fix it from there, not try to change the problem into another altogether, that won't make the error of the real problem any less wrong. We can't ever make this world we live in- Heaven. We can however, live FOR Heaven.
As C.S. Lewis wrote and I quoted above- '...and earth, if put second to Heaven, to have been from the beginning a part of Heaven itself.'
If we live for Heaven, if we live for Jesus and the world He promised to us, we'll realize that yes, here on earth, here among the playground of Satan himself, we were allowed a taste of Heaven. Jesus. The earth was never intended to be Satan's playground and I think that's what we'll realize. That even among all the horrific playground toys erected by Satan, glimpses of what the earth was intended for can be found, but only if we live for Heaven, realizing that this earth is Satan's playground, can we truly see those little bits of Heaven. Those little bits which are never intended to make us believe that we are living in Heaven now here on earth and this is all there is to life, period, end of story.
No wonder Jesus said--
John {8:23} And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
John {18:36} Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence
John {14:30} Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. {14:31} But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
John {17:14} I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. {17:15} I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. {17:16} They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. {17:17} Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. {17:18} As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into
the world. {17:19} And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. {17:20} Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word

It can't be any clearer than that, can it.
Make no mistake, this isn't as good as it all gets, this world we live it in isn't all there is. We have hope beyond this life we live in Satan's Playground. As in all playground with the children playing and running about, there are safety zones. The safety zone in this playground can only be found in God, through the mercy of Jesus, by His grace, by His everlasting love, the truth we are sanctified by. Because Satan's playgrounds isn't like the playground of our youths where it's all games and make believe and no one is killed if they don't make it to safety, we have to realize that death is the outcome for ALL who don't make it to the safety zones found in Jesus, this is the truth.
Amen!

Right Place, Right Time- an interesting.. forties like song but gospel :)
John {18:36} Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence

the world. {17:19} And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. {17:20} Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word

Who changed the truth of God into a lie...
The truth isn't always easy to hear is it?
We say we want the truth and nothing but the truth and yet if you were a wife suspecting your husband is cheating on you, or a husband suspecting your wife is cheating on you part of you wouldn't want to know the truth. If you're a parent whose child is getting into drugs and other bad things, part of you doesn't want to know the truth.
Some of you maybe shouting, 'I'd want to know!' And that maybe be true for you. But a lot of times people don't want to hear things that force them to hard realizations.
A cheating spouse means the spouse no longer loves you, no longer finds that you satisfy their needs, a child caught up in drugs has some how turned from all you'd thought you'd taught them and maybe it means you're not the parent you thought you were, maybe there *was* something you could have done more, true or not these thoughts play through peoples minds, these thoughts and more.
Sometimes spouses will live in denial of an affair for years rather than face anything. People will sometimes choose to be blind because it's easier, it's less upsetting, it's hard to face facts when they hurt, or have the potential to hurt.
We talked about God's wrath yesterday, and we know it's alive and well, it didn't disappear into a soft fuzzy warm ball of pure cotton. God's wrath is exacting today as it was back when He destroyed almost everyone in the great flood. God's wrath is as real today as it was when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. People today don't live in fear of God's wrath, most don't believe it exists, we live in a world that pats us on the back and tells us sure our sins have consequences but nothing all that bad, just go to Jesus.
I'm not making light of going to Jesus for forgiveness, not at all. A great price was paid by Jesus so that we can go to Him and find forgiveness. That price wasn't paid however so we could make light of sin and use forgiveness as a person swipes a credit card in a machine. Four sins, alright, lets pay for those...
No, it doesn't work that way.
Some may shout but if you make this all too hard then you're *working* for it and you can't be saved by *working* for it.
I say if you're sinning without true remorse and continue in sins without any heart felt desire to be rid of them, then you're making the cross a joke.
Jesus didn't die to give permission to sin.
Jesus didn't die to make sin seem less sinful.
Jesus didn't die so that we could have our cake and eat it too.
Seriously, Jesus called sin sin, and told people to go and sin no more. Jesus' life as our example, well, Jesus was sinless.
The truth is sin is a live and well and it's still against all that is God and the forgiveness we need to seek has to be heartfelt not frivolous.
Sin warrants death, not a trip into a confessional booth and a slap on the wrist.
The only way to keep from having to pay that penalty for sin is to repent, seek forgiveness, to go and sin no more. Not sit there, ask for forgiveness and turn around and smile happily as you start the same sins all over again.
I'm not saying that sin is easy to get rid of, I know for a fact it's not.
It's so easy to get caught up in the hopelessness of being a sinner, and just give up and give in to sin because to not sin seems too hard, too impossible. It's a fight, it's a battle, it's a war we're in and they are always hard to be involved in.
Just as Paul said he was a wretched man, a sinner that seemed to do things he didn't want to do, and not do things he should do, so too are we all, but like Paul we have to keep on fighting this fight, not because our fighting gives us eternal life, the only way to get that is through Jesus. The fight is standing up for the truth, the fight is choosing to live in the truth, the fight is a constant reminder of our helplessness to save ourselves and the price paid for us to be saved. The fight is the reality of Satan at war with God.
Don't tell me the wrath of God is no longer real. Don't tell me that sin today is okay. Don't try to change the truth of God into a bunch of lies because it's easier to digest, easier to live with than to believe that sin has a real price, all sin and every single sin needs to be forgiven. There is no sin-free pass you can buy and wave about to get away with sinning. Sin kills, and it killed Jesus, the sinless.
Here is Paul talking about sinners and before anyone thinks this is my time to take a stance against homosexuality it's not. I'm against fornication, I'm against lust for lust sake. I'm against the selfishness involved in seeking pleasure for the sake of self gratification. Am I guilty of these sins? Can I be against them and be guilty of them? Yes, but my guilt is mine to deal with and because I'm guilty doesn't mean I'm going to try and make sin acceptable. As for homosexuality, my belief is that people can be born certain ways through no fault of their own. Just like heterosexuals can be perverts and filled with sin because sex is something used wrongly, so too can homosexuals.
I know a lot of people might not agree with me and that's fine, no one has to agree with me. But I've see people - girls born that look more like men than women. Boys born that are more effeminate than some girls. Born with things not quite right and I have to believe that it is the perversion of what is natural for anyone that is wrong, gay or straight, the perversion is what corrupts it all.
God knows the hearts and I'm not going to throw any stones, I'm not without sin. Yes, I'll stand up and shout that sexual perversion is wrong because in my heart that's what it means, but I won't stand up and shout that all homosexuality is wrong. A God that allows some people to be born with both male and female sexual parts has to mean the perversion of love is what is wrong, not that babe born innocent and guilty of no crime, of no sin. Yes, inheriting the propensity to sin as we all do, but accountability comes with knowledge and babies don't have that knowledge.
Anyway, please read on--
Romans
{1:24} Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
{1:25} Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
**
People changing the truth of God into a lie.
People worshipping the creature more than the Creator.
Do you see it?
When we worship ourselves and revel in our self-worship, when we put ourselves- the creature- before our Creator we are changing the truth of God into a lie. We are saying that we are above God. We are saying that Jesus' sacrifice can mean nothing because we are worthy of worship, not Him. When self comes first, when we put anything before God and worship anything before we worship God, we lose salvation because we are saying we have no Savior, no one greater than we are.
When we are caught up in self-worship there are consequences for our sins. We choose our path, it's not chosen for us.
Romans
{1:26} For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
{1:27} And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
{1:28} And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient
{1:29} Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
{1:30} Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
{1:31} Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
{1:32} Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
**
We're going to continue this study tomorrow, but for now we have to realize that as sinners we need to seek forgiveness and repent, to turn from our sins not try to justify them. No, we can't save ourselves, only Jesus can save us, but we have to choose to follow Him, to believe in Him and that's a daily walk we are on with daily choices to be made and those choices will have consequences- good with good consequences, evil with evil consequences.
May the love of Jesus Christ fill our hearts, our minds, our spirits. May the forgiveness obtained for us by the only begotten of the one true God, our heavenly Father be ours. May the Holy Spirit guide us now and forever. Come soon Lord Jesus, come soon.
Amen.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”- 1 Peter 5:8-9

Accountability to the Truth
Have you ever heard someone say, 'Just tell the truth and you won't be in any trouble?' That if you 'lie' it will go worse for you. Parents say that a lot don't they? Just don't lie to me. I want the truth. The truth.
Sometimes the truth can get you in trouble and most assuredly it will if you're a Christian. I'm not saying it *always* will, but the truth isn't something people want to hear all the time, not when it comes to rocking their worlds and upsetting the old apple cart, they're just as happy to be left alone. The truth calls for reproving for sins, Jesus is the truth, and He came and reproved mankind of their sins. Being reproved isn't something most people take kindly to and there in trouble ensues.
The Apostle Paul knew this, yet he was compelled to tell the truth about Jesus wherever he went, often getting him into big trouble.
Here he is Caesarea, locked up and accused of dissension and the Romans realize the Jews are after him because of their laws and yet Paul being a Roman wasn't just turned over to the Jews to deal with but was to be taken to Rome. It's a very detailed story read the entire thing if you can. Here's but a small part and it pertains to the 'truth'.
Paul explaining himself before King Agrippa- why he was in custody, why he was appealing to Caesar.
Acts
{26:19} Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision
{26:20} But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and [then] to the Gentiles, that they should
repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
{26:21} For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill [me. ]
{26:22} Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
{26:23} That Christ should suffer, [and] that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.
{26:24} And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.
{26:25} But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.
**
Not mad, but speaking words of truth and soberness.
Truth!
Paul is speaking words of truth and here King Agrippa is thinking him insane. Paul is a witness for the truth and as such his telling the truth is not boding well for him in a worldly way, is it. For the truth's sake it is gaining him notoriety, the truth is being published more and more to people by his captivity, by his troubles. He goes on to tell King Agrippa more...
Acts
{26:26} For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.
{26:27} King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
{26:28} Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
**
Paul's word of truth were falling on ears that understood, not necessarily accepted what was being said but just to hear the king say- 'Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.' is amazing! Paul is speaking truth, and Agrippa not blinded by hatred as most of the Jews were, did know that the crucifixion of Jesus took place. He also was a learned man that had studied the prophets for Paul to say that he believes them.
Acts
{26:29} And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.
{26:30} And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:
{26:31} And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.
{26:32} Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar.
**
They know that all that Paul has done was speak facts, that he'd done nothing to warrant being locked up or put to death. They would have let him go if he hadn't appealed to Caesar.
God had His own plan though, and that plan was for Paul to go to Rome, to go before Caesar. The truth was going far and wide.
No, the truth wasn't setting Paul free here on earth, but his spiritual life was free in Christ. We too are bound to this earth for as long as Jesus deems necessary to fulfill the grand plan of salvation to it completion. We aren't to be taken out of the world, but to be kept in the world even though we are children of God through the grace of His only Son's sacrifice. Witnesses one and all, witnesses to the truth.
It's not popular. It wasn't popular back at its conception and it won't be popular at it's completion.
The truth calls for a life in Jesus, not just a few hours in a church pew or a couple hours doing good deeds, or a half hour a day prayer, not even prayers ten times a day. A life spent in Jesus.
Truth that isn't hidden upon convenience.
Truth that will transform you with the renewing of your mind.
Romans
{12:1} I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service.
{12:2} And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
When it comes to Jesus, so many people would much rather believe a lie than to embrace Him fully.
Go on and think, what does she know, she doesn't know anything, and you know... it's possible that I could have it all wrong. Jesus knows that I'm not perfect, that my life has so much in it that needs to be non-conformed to the world, by His grace and mercy, by His love and forgiveness, may the Father's will be done in me as it is in Him as He wills for all mankind. I'm not waving some 'I'm perfect' banner, far, far from it! The banner I want to wave is one that proclaims Jesus as the way, the truth, and the life, the way to the Father is through the Son. By the grace of Jesus I am forgiven, by His truth I am sanctified in Him.
May God bless us all as we stand witness to the truth, even when a lie would untie the bindings - emotional and/or physical - that we are caught up in on earth here and now.
Amen

Life here and now is the illusion, Jesus is the reality.
A man filled with confusion and power of authority asked Jesus, 'What is truth?'
But he didn't listen for an answer.
Can it be like most skeptics, when you speak the word of God, when you reveal the miraculous love of Jesus to them and they are still blinded by the worldliness they choose, and they say 'What is truth?' as if there is no such thing, or rather that there are different truths for all.
Your truth might not be my truth so who’s to say what truth really is. You've heard it, haven't you? People saying everyone believes in their own way and that's all that matters as long as they're good. I've said it before. I still believe that God alone knows the hearts and will judge each of us based on the opportunities we've had to know Him and live in Him.
There is no escaping judgment. Judgment will not pass over a single person. There is no place to hide from it, no place to run to. Even the dead are judged.
Rev. {20:12} And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. {20:13} And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. {20:14} And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. {20:15} And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
**
'They were judged every man according to their works.' How is that, if we are saved by grace and not works, not of ourselves, how can our works be our judgment? I'll tell you how, we are saved by grace and sanctified by the truth, Jesus said so.
By the grace and mercy of Jesus we are forgiven and saved, and our lives from that moment on should be lives lived in truth and the truth is Jesus. As Jesus proclaimed during His life here on earth, and as God proclaimed through Him from the beginning, before the earth was even formed, we are to live. The two great commandments that should govern ALL we do are these- Love God, Love Man. If our lives are not being lived as Jesus taught, if they are not being lived in Him, trusting in Him to sanctify us, if we are not giving our works over to Him to guide us, then our works, everything we do after we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, our redeemer, is done in vain.
No!
I'm not saying to be good and you'll be saved.
I'm not even saying you're damned if you fall away.
I'm saying as a natural outpouring of God in your life you become more and more like Jesus and as a natural recourse your works are wrought more and more in Him.
I'm saying if you fall away you can still ask for forgiveness and seek to follow Jesus again and again, you're only damned if you fall away and stay fallen down without seeking forgiveness.
'What is truth?' It's not some abstract mystery meant as a riddle for people to try and solve. It's not subject to many interpretations. It's not one thing for you and another for me.
The truth is Jesus, our Savior, our Lord, the Holy Son of our Father, the One and Only True God.
Who was the man of authority that asked Jesus what was the truth and then didn't wait for an answer? Read on...
John
{18:31} Then said Pilate unto them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death:
{18:32} That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.
{18:33} Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
{18:34} Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?
{18:35} Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?
{18:36} Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
{18:37} Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
{18:38} Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.
{18:39} But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the Kingof the Jews?
{18:40} Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
{19:1} Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
{19:2} And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
{19:3} And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
{19:4} Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
{19:5} Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
{19:6} When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.
{19:7} The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
{19:8} When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
{19:9} And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
{19:10} Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
{19:11} Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
{19:12} And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.
{19:13} When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
{19:14} And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
{19:15} But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
{19:16} Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
{19:17} And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
{19:18} Where they crucified him, and two others with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
{19:19} And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
{19:20} This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
{19:21} Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
{19:22} Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.

A man sympathetic to Jesus, a man who wanted to free Him without causing an upset, a man who was convicted and yet driven by forces of government, caught up in a life knowing not the truth, he asked the question what is truth, but didn't want the answer.
We need to ask what is the truth and really want the answer. We need to spread the truth far and wide. We need to cling to the truth in Jesus because there is no other truth, no matter what the deceivers would have us to believe. Many will try to sway you from the truth, it'll be a daily battle with a daily choice made. Will we stand by the truth, will we holdfast to the truth, to life, to real life. This world isn't real life, it's merely a battleground covered in illusions of life. Jesus is life, He is the way and the truth and He tells us this is not our world, the world to come is for those who believe and trust and love Him.
People would have us believe Jesus is the illusion, but life here and now is the illusion, Jesus is the reality.
By His mercy and Grace, In Him.
Amen.
“For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”- 1 Peter 1:24-25
