Through the Spirit.

Walking after the SPIRIT-

Rom 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4  That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:5  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Rom 8:7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Rom 8:8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Rom 8:10  And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Walking after the Spirit.

The FRUIT of the SPIRIT-

Gal 5:22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Rom 8:12  Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Rom 8:13  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Key words of the above-  IF YE THROUGH THE SPIRIT.  If we MORTIFY the deeds of our bodies on our own it means nothing at all, we are just trying to earn salvation and you can't earn what is given freely. If we are mortifying our flesh and take the credit for the mortification we've only rid ourselves of one thing and taken on another- pride. Satan loves when we fill ourselves with pride for our own works. The Bible clearly tells us to mortify the deeds of our bodies but it also clearly says to do it THROUGH the SPIRIT.

Joh 3:6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Eph 5:17  Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Eph 5:18  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Eph 5:19  Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Eph 5:20  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Eph 5:21  Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

1Pe 1:22  Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently

We are to OBEY the truth THROUGH the SPIRIT.

1Pe 2:17  Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

1Pe 3:8  Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
1Pe 3:9  Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

1Pe 4:8  And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
1Pe 4:9  Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

Joh 13:34  A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Joh 13:35  By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Joh 15:17  These things I command you, that ye love one another.

Rom 12:9  Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Rom 12:10  Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Rom 12:11  Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
Rom 12:12  Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
Rom 12:13  Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
Rom 12:14  Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
Rom 12:15  Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
Rom 12:16  Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
Rom 12:17  Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
Rom 12:18  If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
Rom 12:19  Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Rom 12:20  Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Rom 12:21  Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

2Co 6:6  By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned

By the HOLY SPIRIT.

Eph 4:3  Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

1Th 4:6  That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
1Th 4:7  For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
1Th 4:8  He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
1Th 4:9  But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

Given unto us HIS HOLY SPIRIT.

1Ti 1:5  Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned

Heb 6:10  For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Heb 13:1  Let brotherly love continue.
Heb 13:2  Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Heb 13:3  Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

Jas 2:15  If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16  And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

2Pe 1:7  And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

1Jn 3:11  For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

1Jn 3:14  We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
1Jn 3:15  Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
1Jn 3:16  Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
1Jn 3:17  But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
1Jn 3:18  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
1Jn 3:19  And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

1Jn 3:23  And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

1Jn 4:7  Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1Jn 4:10  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1Jn 4:11  Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1Jn 4:12  No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
1Jn 4:13  Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

GIVEN US OF HIS SPIRIT.

1Jn 4:20  If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
1Jn 4:21  And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

1Jn 5:1  Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
1Jn 5:2  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

The Bible clearly tells us what we need to know to be God's. We could do all sorts of good and not be God's, and we could do all sorts of good and be God's. We must do all we do IN and THROUGH the HOLY SPIRIT, letting God guide us.

Act 2:38  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Act 2:33  Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Gal 3:14  That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Luk_11:13  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Eph_1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise

The Holy Spirit is a GIFT.
The Holy Spirit is a PROMISE.

Ask the HEAVENLY FATHER and HE will GIVE the HOLY SPIRIT to us.

All through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we will received the promised gift of the Holy Spirit, and through the Holy Spirit we can be Christ's here and now upon this sin-filled earth ruled by Satan and his minions. We need to mortify the deed of our flesh - THROUGH the HOLY SPIRIT, to this end we need to pray, and to do what our God has told us we are to do, what our God has commanded us to do.

Please, Lord, teach us! Live in us! Give us the Holy Spirit! All through Jesus Christ our Savior now and forever!!!!!!!

The Law of God is Spiritual.

Rom 7:14  For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

The law is spiritual, is it any wonder when we know this…

Joh_4:24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

That God's law is spiritual makes a lot of sense. This is why you could keep the letter of the law perfectly and still NOT be God's. Because it must be kept SPIRITUALLY as well as physically, and mentally. We must worship God in SPIRIT and TRUTH.

The law is spiritual, could God give us a moral law that wasn't spiritual, abled to be completely comprehended spiritually?

We fail to follow the law because we are carnal, embracing our carnal natures. We are sold under sin. Truthfully we were born with the carnal nature we possess and sin is right there- a drawing away from God and a propensity towards self, towards serving our flesh natures. I'm not sure we can remember our first realized sin, but most of us probably have some idea of the 'mischief' we got up to as children. We can likely recall moments of pure selfishness, of anger towards others because we didn't get our way. Maybe you can recall various sinful moments of your life because oftentimes some of our more sinful moments are written on our minds permanently. We serve self so much, in so many ways above and beyond any consideration for others or God.  We are truly sold under sin, carnal. Recognizing ourselves in this way makes it possible for us to comprehend our most desperate need to be saved by the Sinless One, the only One who can save us from ourselves.

Rom 7:15  For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Rom 7:16  If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

When we recognize the wrong inside us we are automatically agreeing that the moral law is a good thing. You can't understand that you are wrong without there being a right, it's impossible.

Rom 7:17  Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18  For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

How incredibly true this is. I have gone to this passage so many times in my life because I agonize over my failure to do that which is good. This carnal nature WARS against the SPIRITUAL nature.

Rom 7:19  For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20  Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:21  I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22  For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23  But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

Law of God- in us, our spirit with His Spirit.
Another law in our bodies-warring with the law of our minds- held captive to the law of sin in our bodies.

Rom 7:24  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Our bodies captive to the law of sin, WHO will deliver us from our bodies which consent to the law of sin?

Rom 7:25  I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

We use our minds to SERVE the law of God, we CHOOSE to serve the spiritual law with our spirit.  We make a conscious choice to serve the law of God and when the law of sin in our flesh rears its ugly head, we seek forgiveness, repenting- endlessly.

Through JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD alone are we delivered from our bodies, from the law of sin in our bodies.

All by His amazing grace, love, mercy!!!!!!

Exceedingly Sinful.

Rom 7:8  But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Rom 7:9  For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Rom 7:10  And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
Rom 7:11  For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
Rom 7:12  Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
Rom 7:13  Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

God forbid that the commandments given to God's chosen and written on the hearts of even those who weren't born into God's chosen, would be call evil. How could they ever be called evil? Tell me this, were people filled with evil and dying before the commandments were written down on stone? Yes, they were. Remember Cain, Adam and Eve's firstborn son? He had no commandment written in stone to follow, yet when he killed Abel he sinned. The law he followed was one that was a moral law mankind was given instantly upon deciding to disobey God and commit sin. This is why people who claim no belief in God still have a moral law. There is a law of the land, so to speak, a law that is common to all humankind outside the realm of religion. This law was put into man, it is a part of man. It is a part of man that man chooses to listen to, or to ignore.

'Sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.'

After much time passed and God gave a people He chose, a people that committed themselves to Him, the moral law, He also gave them ceremonial law and other laws so that they were daily exposed to a life under laws. They were being taught to obey, and not oppressively, but for a spiritual freedom, a life with God. The commandment revealed the exceeding sinfulness of sin.  The commandments reveal our inability to be holy on our own without the holiness of our Savior.

Rom 7:14  For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Rom 7:15  For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Rom 7:16  If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
Rom 7:17  Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18  For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:24  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25  I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

More on this tomorrow by the GRACE and WILL of our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, now and forever!!!!!!!

Is the law sin? God forbid.

Rom 7:7  What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Remember this-- 1Jn_3:4  Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

You do not sin without a law to break.  Many people take bits and pieces of the Bible and use it to make a case for being under grace the law no longer matters at all. But clearly the Bible says otherwise consistently-  God forbid. The law is not done away with- let me clarify, the MORAL law is not done away with. The ceremonial law was abolished- the ceremonial law being that which pointed to our Savior and the sacrifice He would make for all mankind.  The law is the written word of God to His chosen people, and the word of God written on the hearts of all- His chosen and Gentiles alike. If a law is written on the heart, how can it be done away with? It's much easier to discard a law that isn't in your heart. But if a LAW can be written in our hearts why would it be unwritten on our heart, erased? There is nowhere in the Bible we are told God will take the law from our heart.

Servants of righteousness, or servants of sin.

Servants of righteousness.

We choose our master, our master isn't chosen for us. Who you serve, who you choose to obey that's on you, that's on us. We can't blame anyone for choosing to serve Satan over God.

I know we've talked about it plenty of times before, you know, how you choose one or the other- there is NO in-between, there is no third choice.  A lot of people do think there is a third choice, they think they are that third choice. They think if they simply believe in themselves and nothing else- neither God, nor Satan, that they are 'safe' from and bad outcome. If they don't believe in God or Satan then they answer to no one but themselves. They believe that there is no life after death, that this miserable world with its few bright spots is all there is. If there is something more and they are wrong, they choose not to care about that, they'll take their chances. Some may believe that even if they don't choose God that if He's really loving He will take them even if they don't believe in Him, you know just in case He really is real.

The truth is, we are servants and there are two masters to choose from and we get to choose who we serve. There is no third choice. We are not masters. We are often given the delusion that we are masters but the one who gives us that delusion is Satan. Satan encourages us to put ourselves first and he'll even seemingly fade out of the picture as long as we aren't inclined to seek God.

Who we yield ourselves as servants to obey- that's whose servant we are.

We can choose sin, or we can choose obedience to righteousness- it is our choice. Don't make the mistake of thinking if you don't choose that all is well, it's not. Don't make the mistake of not believing, because that choice is wrong too. Believe in God, believe in obedience to righteousness. Be a servant of God, obeying from the heart, be made free from sin, a servant of righteousness. Choose to yield ourselves wholly to God, knowing that He would have us love Him, and love others in all our actions- leaving the loving of ourselves to His amazing love. There truly is a wage for sinning and that wage is death. The gift of God is eternal life all through Jesus Christ our Lord.   Eternal life or death, make no mistake, you choose which. By God's grace and mercy, may we choose HIM, always HIM!

Rom 6:16  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Rom 6:17  But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Rom 6:18  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Rom 6:19  I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
Rom 6:20  For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
Rom 6:21  What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
Rom 6:22  But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God forbid we ever choose to sin.

Rom 6:15  What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

God forbid that we would ever CHOOSE to sin.  I'm NOT talking about the sinning the occurs without deliberate intention, I'm not talking about our filthy rags stained completely with sin, drenched in our wretchedness. I'm talking about the intense desire to want to hate God and hate our fellowman. If we aren't sickened by our own tendencies towards sin, then is it possible we are accepting the sin in our lives and calling it acceptable and good?

Praise God for His gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our LORD and SAVIOR now and FORVER!!!!!!!

Yield to God.

A man comes home from work and finds his wife in tears. Quickly he asks her why she's crying. The wife responds by telling her husband that she didn't mean to, but she went to the Bingo hall and spent way too much money. The husband is noticeably upset instantly and unable to help himself he berates her, reminding her she promised she wouldn't gamble any more. After many tears and more promises, the couple made up and were content once more.  A week later the man comes home from work and once more the wife is crying, it's the same scenario as the week before except this time the husband asks why she  keeps taking his forgiveness for granted. Quietly he tells her that for her to keep on this way hurts him. Apologizing once again, she promises again not to gamble away their money. Things go on this way until it's not just once a week but two times a week the gambling continues, then three times a week. The husband is completely bewildered, he loves his wife and will forgive her endlessly but the emotional pain of her actions is taking its toll. He can't stop loving her, she is sincerely in pain each time she is overcome by her addiction, she doesn't know why she does it, she doesn't know why she can't stop when she wants to so desperately. The wife loves her husband so much but is consumed by her addiction. She promises to get help and after their house is foreclosed on, and the bill collectors are after them, she finally does. After treatment the couple are able to rebuild their lives slowly but surely.

When we read this story some may have a tendency to think the husband is a fool for putting up with his wife's addiction for so long. Others might wonder why the wife waited so long to get help. We may doubt the wife's love for her husband, surely if she really loved him she would have done things differently. Also that story had a happy ending, but not all do.

We are all sinners. Those who truly love God will hate the sins they commit, they will NOT sin willfully- but they will sin. They'll despise the sinning they do and long to be free from its awful grasp. We can NEVER choose to sin and simply take for granted we will be forgiven. That wife in the story above never wanted to hurt her husband, never. She would be consumed by the desire to gamble hating that she couldn't simply stop herself.

Truthfully there are many similar and worse stories than the one above and we often can't comprehend the endless ability for some people to forgive others for their atrocities.

With God, He can forgive the worst of the worst when there is a heartfelt, sincere seeking of forgiveness, of repentance.

Rom 6:1  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2  God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Rom 6:3  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom 6:6  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:7  For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Rom 6:8  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Rom 6:9  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
Rom 6:10  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Rom 6:11  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom 6:12  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Rom 6:13  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Rom 6:14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Grace frees us from sin. Grace.

We are told to NOT LET SIN reign in our mortal bodies- obeying it, obeying our lusts. We are told we are NOT TO YIELD our bodies as instruments of unrighteousness to sin.

We are told to YIELD TO GOD.

We have to do the yielding. Do we continue to yield to sin or to God? We will be faced with this choice endlessly as long as we live in this world prior to our Savior's return. We will live this battle daily. Grace alone will save us from ourselves. We should NEVER accept any sin in us no matter how often we yield to it.

Rom 7:22  For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23  But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25  I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

May God help us, to deliver us from our bodies of death through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior NOW and FOREVER!!!!!!!
