Will Christ Find
Faith On Earth? (Our Savior's Question)
Luk 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end,
that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
Luk 18:2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which
feared not God, neither regarded man:
Luk 18:3 And there was a widow in that city; and she
came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
Luk 18:4 And he would not for a while: but afterward
he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
Luk 18:5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will
avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
Luk 18:6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge
saith.
Luk 18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which
cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
Luk 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
Faith on earth.
God's elect cry day
and night to Him. God hears them! They might not want to believe He does
because their prayers on not answered as they desire, but by faith they MUST
believe.
Faith that God
hears.
How often are we
bothered by what we call nagging? Maybe not so much between adults, though
there is that running joke about husbands and their nagging wives. As parents
we most likely have all been confronted with nagging children. The nagging takes place because someone - a
child, a wife, anyone - wants something and they aren't getting it readily
enough, so they keep asking. They might ask once a day, once an hour, once a
minute (children really nagging). The continual asking is bothersome just as
the unjust judge in the parable said- the widow was troubling him because she
kept coming to him- so he answered her request. This as a PARABLE is not telling us to bug
people, but rather to pray without ceasing, pray and not give up praying, pray
in faith that eventually the praying will be profitable no matter how long it
seems to take.
Christ asks- Shall
God find faith on earth when He comes to avenge those who are His from those
who are Satan's?
By His GRACE He
will! We must NOT FAINT, though
OBVIOUSLY we will be tempted to do so.
