Our High Priest, Our Savior!

Heb 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
Heb 7:6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.

Heb 7:7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

The LESS is blessed of the BETTER. We don't bless God- He blesses us. Why is that? Because without any contradiction God is better than us. Blessed are those whom God has given His blessing. When a father gives a son his blessing it is because the father is older- wiser. The son does not give a blessing to the father.

Heb 7:8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
Heb 7:9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.
Heb 7:10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

The tribe of Levi was in Abraham's loins- his descendents- Abraham/Isaac/Jacob/Levi. The priesthood came from the tribe of Levi and yet Melchisedec was not of that tribe of Levi. Melchisedec was appointed by GOD uniquely so and Abraham whose descendants would bring forth the tribe that would be priests unto God, paid tithes to Melchisedec- appointed uniquely of God, greater than the one being blessed.

Heb 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Perfection is of God! You can follow the law to the letter and not achieve perfection. Perfection is uniquely of God. The law guides in love, the law given by God out of love, but the law is not God Himself. Another PRIEST should rise after the ORDER of Melchisedec- a Priest uniquely of God- Jesus Christ!

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
Heb 7:13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

Heb 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

Heb 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
Heb 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

Our wonderful Savior! The power of an endless life!

Heb 7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Heb 7:18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
Heb 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

The law pointed to Christ. The hope was in the eternal one, sacrificed.

Heb 7:20 And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
Heb 7:21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)

Psa 110:4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

Heb 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

Heb 7:23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
Heb 7:24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

A priest forever! A priest uniquely of God forever, an UNCHANGEABLE priesthood.

Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Our Savior lives forever as a High Priest, God's High Priest- ever to make intercession for us!

Heb 7:26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

Became us!
Holy!
Harmless!
Undefiled!
Separate from sinners!
Higher than the heavens!

OUR High Priest! Our Savior!

Heb 7:27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

The Sacrifice made once, a Sacrifice. A PERFECT Sacrifice. The Sacrifice all other lessers sacrifices pointed to. Death once. Jesus offered Himself a perfect Sacrifice.

Heb 7:28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

The word of the oath- God's oath- uniquely called of God- knowing the law eternally- The Son consecrated forever and ever more.

Jesus wasn't born into the priesthood. It was those of the priesthood who had Him killed. Jesus was a priest though, a Priest uniquely so called of God. He wasn't a priest from man's calling, but of God's. We cannot forget this. Jesus is our High Priest. A Priest who ever lives to make intercession for us! We have a High Priest! We do! You have a High Priest, I have a High Priest! That High Priest is our Savior!

Jesus- Became us!
Jesus- Holy!
Jesus- Harmless!
Jesus- Undefiled!
Jesus- Separate from sinners!
Jesus- Higher than the heavens!

Jesus our High Priest!

We're not to look to any other to intercede for us, not any other, no man, no one but the Lord God Jesus Christ our Savior, He alone as our High Priest intercedes for us.

Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

He alone can save us to the uttermost!

All praise, all glory, all honor to our King! Our High Priest! Our Savior now and forever and ever!

By His grace!

Amen.
