Jesus answered and
said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he
cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:3
Born again.
Not born physically
again.
Born again.
Some people have
near death experiences, and that old 'their life flashed before their eyes'
comes into play. Then some times those same people are suddenly experiencing
their lives in a different way. They are so grateful to be alive they will
swear even the food tastes better than it did before. Others start living their
lives more cautiously because life is so precious, while still others more
recklessly because they have a sense of how short life is. The point I'm trying
to make is experiences can change our life perspective. We change all the time.
For as much as people sometimes love to say they are stuck in their old ways,
life is changing around them and they are changing too. No one is the same as
they were a year ago. You might laugh and say they are and even go as far as to
say they are the same as ten years ago.
Habits can remain the same that's true, but our lives are constantly
changing. How you view things change, they have to. With each new event in life
our life changes. You might grumble the same but things are changing. Our
bodies are changing, and our minds change too. Change is inevitable.
Being born again is
a CHANGE taking place in our lives. A realized, intentional change. Being born again is comprehending the need to
change.
Jesus wasn't telling
Nicodemus that he had to be birthed again physically, He was telling Him he had
to be born again spiritually. He has to recognize his NEED in the spirit. He
has to realize that it isn't the flesh birth that matters, the flesh birth will
not help us realize the kingdom of heaven.
'That which is born
of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.'
Nicodemus answered
and said unto him, How can these things be?
Jesus answered and
said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we
have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things,
and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly
things?
More on this
tomorrow by the grace of our LORD, our SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST!
